My main stealer has one. Yours probably does too. They are underpowered tbf though, even the nismo is only 350hp which isn't much for a sports car of that price these days.

One of them would cane a standard 300zx TT though

I don't know mate - there's probably not much sub-£38k (brand new) with almost 350bhp. Audi TTS, BMW Z4 35is, Mercedes SLK350 and Porsche Boxster/Cayman come in at nearer £40k or more; and they (mostly) put out a little over 300bhp. Very similar performance to the Nismo though; but they all offer better fuel economy and lower emissions - hence MUCH cheaper road tax!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Not if it is on a straight line or 1/4 mile, the Z32 walks on the 370, even the Nismo. There are a few around my area and I also test drove one, yes the handling is much more precise and tight than the Z32, and with reason due to the fact that they are 20+ years apart.

Stock for stock? I don't think so. The early 350s yes but the later ones no. The 370 should be a good touch faster stock.

For less than 30k new there's the golf R the focus RS etc hell if you want to be silly an Ariel Atom. I know where talking less power but we're also talking 10k cheaper. If you had 30-40k to spend on a new car what would you buy? For most people it's ether speed, luxury or more often compromise as they can't spend 40k on a toy. If you can blow 40k on a toy you can blow more. For nearly 40k the z gives you no back seats, isn't much faster than a golf and well it's not looking like a great compromise. I like them, but you can see why in this day and age they arnt selling like hot cakes.

One of my friends has the new shape Nismo 370z. Whilst I really like it, I do prefer the pre-facelift model.

I agree with you completely. However I don't think many people would buy one of them new with cold hard cash. Most of them will be on a personal/business lease. The smarter people who want to pay outright will just buy an ex demo or used one.

I don't think in my 7 years at Nissan did I ever sell a 350Z or 370Z without it being on lease.

Also to the other chap claiming straight line and 300ZX being faster.... I already did the tests many times in 2010 when we got our first 370 demo haha

LOL!! they're fairly evenly matched actually. The Nismo actually having a half second saving on the dash to 60.

Not in my recent experience. I have done quite a few pulls against the regular 370 and two 370 Nismo's and at the end it was half a car difference against the regular 370 every time and a bit less against the Nismo.

Specs on the regular 370's

Full Exhaust, CAI, ECU chipped, Hiflow cats, aftermarket exhaust manifolds, M370 intake plenum.

Specs on the Nismo 370

Full Exhaust, CAI and Hi flow cats

That's not stock-for-stock, nor does 'half a car length - even less with the Nismo' equate to the Z32 TT 'walking it'. ;)

You're dead right there Steve; I like the Golf R too and would have one over the Nismo as well.... Albeit they are a different class. The Golf remains the ultimate hot hatch; whilst the 370 is a sports coupe - hence my selection of direct rivals!

And I agree again, I can indeed see why the 370 is not selling in vast numbers - for the money, I'd go for any of the German opposition:wink:

And specs on your Z32?

Stock block, stock turbos, stock intercoolers, stock piping, Nistune, 740cc injectors, selin dual intake, 2.5" DP, TP, and 2.5" exhaust.

True, but if you keep in mind that we are talking about a 20 year difference, that's is a pretty great result for our beloved Z32.

Even if a little bias, I heard someone say that stock for stock, the 370 will comfortably beat it, but if you get into modifications... the zx will outrun it easy :)

I'm guessing that getting more boost on the turbos is much easier to get power out of than to play with an NA engine.

Then you can't even compare! 740cc injectors must mean you're running 20+PSi.

That is probably fair to say - although it is also certainly true that the Z32 can still acquit itself so well after 20-odd years!

And I hate to say it, but I'd reckon my SLK is faster than my Zed in a 0-100 mph drag. Again it's got a significant advantage in years and miles under its belt. Plus modern auto transmissions have really improved, to the point they are now often quite a bit faster than their manual counterparts.

And back to that Nismo, one last thought..... It's circa £38k new - a Z32 was around £36k new back in 1994.... What's that in today's money:wink:
