Whats happened ??

There was a for sale thread, he was first to respond and it was sold to someone else, so he probably got quite angry.

Sad to hear Rolondas, hope we cross paths in the future, and all the best :(

seriously! take it on the chin and move on, unless you really think the club is worth so little against one miss handled sale.

Dibs maybe a popular if casual way of lining up for a sale item, but a seller will be most likely looking at there PM box flashing before returning to a thread to see what interest has come up. If he already committed to another buyer then fair enough.

Do What?!

Don't do it mate, one action, from one person and you bin off a community?

Drink beer, return tomorrow and re assess but don't just bail on one bad experience you will regret it

This!

I've lost out on a couple of things I was after in the past because, instead of actually sending a PM first, I replied to the thread saying "PM sent" instead!

It happens, but it's not the end of the world. Stick around, man...

I have to say, I find this a bit silly 'just' over the sales thread. Surely it's not over the one thing, perhaps it's a straw that broke the camels back maybe.

Ive always thought, if I ever do sell stuff, it won't be on a 'dibs' basis... Will be the first to say I'll have it now.

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Ive looked at the time frame of the thread and allthough Rolandas did make his request known he then could of been pipped at the post by a PM that was not known and posted...Dont leave the club because of this Rolandas as you,ve been around a long time matey and appear to be a well liked member and popular too.. Its also not the law that a member must sell to another member even iff they are 1st at the post, thats just life ime affraid buddy and not worth getting upset by this fact..

I can see where Rolandas is coming from. I think the sales section could have been better managed. Another forum I am now active on does a better job at it in making sure that the the sales process is done in the thread until there is an agreed price before going to PM.

Having said that the forum here does have it's ups and downs and I know I've experienced stuff on here that has made me want to leave but hey, take it as experience and come back better, not bitter!:devil2:

There will be more for sale threads Rolandas, don't cut your nose off to spite your face chap. Be sad to see you go [emoji17]

Yup - what they said.....

.....Don't be a stranger because of one minor issue mate! It's the scourge of the internet and, sadly, we are not immune to it here either. Take a deep breath and move on I say; we all want you to stay, Rolandas!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I never get why people think "dibs" on a thread gives them the right to think the item is theirs.

I sell to the first person to contact me privately asking for payment details. That's who gets the item.

I agree, I normally declare my interest first in the thread and then pm with an offer or ask for payment details. Which is how it should be.

But of course all that is up to the seller

I recon, everything apart from payment details should just be done on the thread. I think the problem might be that a lot of people might feel that saying dibs is a way of saying I want it, as seems to be the case here.

The flip side of that is that someone claims dibs, then you wait 2 weeks for the guy to pay and then in the end they disappear without paying. In the mean time the 3 other people who were interested have all sourced stuff elsewhere so you've lost the sale.

It's simple to me - first person to place cash in my bank/hand gets it. But I will only deal with one person at a time.

Don't do it Rolandas!

How am I going to get other bits off u for free:biggrin:

Art213

Ah mate, don't go over this Rolandas, look at the crap I've had on buying bits on here, it's not the end of the world mate, I lost out on a Selin that Mondo had told me about, I just shrugged my shoulders and said "maybe next time" and within a month I'd found another one for sale:thumbup1: (cheers Baz). I know you get your "hopes up" and it is annoying when it doesn't go your way, but that is the way of the world, you win some and you lose some.

You're a great guy on here with a fantastic car, don't leave over this hiccup.
