dutchgold92 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Came across this blog today which belongs to an American member here. It's probably the best Z32 blog I've seen yet. Particularly the model differences and evolution details, which are far more comprehensive than other sources I've seen. The scale of the interesting and useless facts he has is crazy! Particularly on Jap zeds - I learned quite a bit from it about my own car, such as that the "UV Cut" decal on my DS quarter window isn't aftermarket. Just as well I didn't remove it after all. :whistling: Iangreenfield, some bits may also appeal to you as I hadn't known some of the details about the version R. Quote
Iangreenfield Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Oooo I shall have a good read when I have some time. Thanks for that. Quote
Funkysi Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 This is my friend Greg's web page. He has got more literature about the Z32 than Nissan have. I've just sourced him a very rare French edition catalogue. Quote

Funkysi Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 He probably learnt most of what he knows from Simon [emoji1] 'Some'! He knows LOADS though, I mean LOADS! We share information very regularly. I sent him some Euro lights that he's currently modifying. Quote
AndrewG Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Very helpful chap he is too. Thanks Greg! Quote She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.
dutchgold92 Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 This comment on JDM power-folding mirrors doesn't seem to apply to my car. Does anyone else have this feature? When the switch is left pushed down in the top position, the controller will fold the mirrors open when the key is put into the ignition and turned to the ACC position or ON. When the key is turned to the OFF position, the mirrors fold inward Quote
Funkysi Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 This comment on JDM power-folding mirrors doesn't seem to apply to my car. Does anyone else have this feature? I believe this was an option or fitted to mid-life vehicles. I can't verify that information either. Quote
Mondo Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 That definitely doesn't happen on mine either. Quote
AndrewG Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 He covers the optional auto miror folding module here: https://z32enjoytheride.wordpress.com/2015/03/ (scroll down to Part#K9630-45P00) Quote She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

I wonder if there's two types? Quote
AndrewG Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 The label was part of the K9630-45P00 kit which was simply stuck onto a standard switch unit when the kit was installed. Quote She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.
coopd Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Definitely gonna have a good read of that.... Had a quick flick through now and looks really interesting :thumbup1: Quote
phutumsch Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I have had dealings with Greg, Funky one pointed him my way, he wanted an oe invertor for the altia rear garnish, needless to say it needed to be in A1 condition !! I never knew there was an optional mirror fold module, i had to get an aftermarket one some years ago, works the same way ie folds out when the key is turned but mine can be folded in with the remote fob which at the same time lifts the windows, if they're down that is :). Zeke21 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Thank you guys! It is my blog. Simon sent me a message told me to check out this post. Every now and then I venture over to your forum to see what's new. I glad some of you have found my blog interesting or useful if not just a fun read. Owing a Z32 since 2001 I've learned a lot over the years. Further, meeting new people across the globe has provided me an opportunity to discover new information. Some of you, phutumsch, AndrewG, and of course Simon I've exchanged emails with in an effort to gather further info I had on any leads. You guys have been awesome! As far as the Auto Power Folding Mirror, AndrewG has identified correctly how it works. The Auto feature is a rather rare optional part offered in Japan. It is a control box with wire harness that is connected to a power supply and the mirror switch harness. You use the existing mirror switch that originally came in the Z. The part/kit also comes with a label that can be applied to the switch so you know which direction the switch needs to be in to place the mirrors in Auto mode. Currently one of my posts is down...my Euro headlight post. As Simon mentioned (he helped me acquire one of three sets I've picked up over the years, lol) I'm working on modifying the Electronic Vertical Aiming Headlight (mostly a mainland Europe feature) to accommodate the Xenon projector from the Xenon headlight (99/00). I'm hoping it will work but we'll see...I'm running into some challenges I did not expect but I think there is still a way to complete this. dutchgold92 - The UV Cut glass found on the final models always intrigued me. I remember reading about it in some of the literature I have. Problem was I couldn't figure out if all of the glass had it and as I discovered only the door glass has it once I got the new model reference guides. I think the half mirror tint glass is rather cool from the final models. Limited S models from 1994 and Version S with RECARO seat package models from late 94-96 got t-top heat reflective mirror glass. These are really rare but I think really cool, however they are for 2+2 only. 1 Quote

In particular, do you have any further details on the "Pit Sign" or antibacterial treatments? Also, great work with your cars - they look amazing. I'd love to get some new seats in from Japan too, but the version R ones are very expensive on the rare occasion that they show up. Quote
Zeke21 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Thanks for all the info - I'm finding it very interesting. There really are some bizarre features on these cars. In particular, do you have any further details on the "Pit Sign" or antibacterial treatments? Also, great work with your cars - they look amazing. I'd love to get some new seats in from Japan too, but the version R ones are very expensive on the rare occasion that they show up. I've been after the Pit Sign optional part for a while but it is hard to come by. It was available for a lot of other Nissan's during that time so you would think finding one would be easy but so far it has not turned up that way. Pit Sign is a small computer/controller - similar to the Auto mirror box) that calculates oil change intervals. There was a small indicator light that would come on and a small pin slot for resetting the light. In other cars it fit perfectly into an empty switch spot on the dash...such as a fog light switch etc. For the Z there really wasn't a spot for it so oddly Nissan's instructions state to mount it below the seat. I always wonder if it could go just below the cluster into the one blank spot found on later model Z32's...formerly the cruise control indicator light etc was found in this spot. Here is what it looks like: The antibacterial items were standard on the 99/00 models. They were applied to the commonly touched areas. The steering wheel, door handles, shift knob and e-brake. So if you bought a 99/00 shift knob the treatment is already applied. There was nothing physically different about the door handles on a 99/00 model but after reading this in the new car reference guide I set out to compare the part numbers and sure enough the 99/00 models use a whole new part number for the handles...due to this treatment. There was also an optional treatment that could be purchased and the dealer would apply it to the carpet areas. This was also a deodorizer. I believe a diagram of this is shown in the 99/00 optional parts catalog. I don't have a photo on hand but can take one later today to post. I typically see the 99/00 Version R seats once or twice a year come up for sale. The asking price is dependent on condition. They are by far the cheapest seats to ship. The most recent set in good shape sold for about 540 Euro. Prior to that a mint set sold for 900 Euro. Quote

Zeke21 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 The dark grey ones with the red centres :) Sounds like the 99/00 spec Version S seats. I recently picked up a set of those, love em! Quote
