Clear bumper rap for fresh paint chip/scratch protection.

Once I've had the car resprayed I want to rap the bumper in protective film but the company I use for rapping don't do this type for some reason. Anyone have any ideas?

Will be the third time I've had the bumper sprayed it gets chips instantly on the motorway. Fed up.

I had a friend a while back that had a special rubberised clear coat applied to his super bike fairings as he was fed up with chips, never had a chip again after that, the stones just bounce off and don't mark the clear coat at all. Can't remember exactly what it was called though. Maybe a google session required.

Is this what you are looking for? After a brief (very brief) read on the net, there seems to be a clear divide between people who think its a great idea and others who dont. Team A thinks it saves their paint and therefore an expensive full respray even so often, Team B thinks its expensive and you never quite see your cars paint to the full effect (they also say its worse on darker cars)

Have a good read, theres quite the arguement going on on pistonheads and a TVR forum!

Yes with darker colours it wouldn't be as glossy as a highly polished laquar but on silver it will be just fine. I'd rather a slightly less glossy finish than hundreds of stones chips within a week.

I agree with Joely, those bumper bras look awful!

I 3rd that! They're terrible, I'd rather have a few stone chips!

I've never seen it in that light before Lee. But I agree. Car bra = gimp mask!

lol

Hmmmm I can feel a group buy coming on....... I'm not even going over 30moh once it's sprayed without some kind of protection.

Lovely :p

Bet you would lose a lot of depth in the paintwork with a wrap over it.

Rather have the chips

Well most if not all the Porsches have them fitted, also have them on the rear quarters just in front of the arches.

Iirc Jason farrow had something added to his rear end to stop cracking etc, give him a pm

Just read that back and sounds a bit gay :whistling:
