Hi Guys

Had a bit of a hole under the car so decided that before any welding i'd clean it up using an angle grinder with a with brush attachment. like so.WP_20150716_17_28_26_Pro.jpg

So away i go, Now i have the safety glasses, use welding gloves, safety first. however when the wire snags and jerkes the tool off the face of work and throws it back into my chest after hitting my elbow. The tool had a click on button so the bloody thing is twisting my shirt into a bundle which stops the grinder. cant reach the switch because im still jammed under the car, so i mange to reach the plug and yank it out...... phew! still alive, now if it hadn't caught my shirt i dare not imagine what it would have done to my stomach and chest... anyway my elbow hurts enough, and i still have it.

So the morale of this story... Be careful out there.....

I think many grinder speeds exceed what is safe speed limit for the wire brush.

Don't lock the power on. If you hadn't it would have likely been a lot less worse. But hey, hindsight is wonderful. As said thank god it wasn't a cutting disc. It's worth mentioning that cutting/grinding discs that are poorly fitted or flawed have a good potential to explode, now that is Interesting. Always respect the grinder they can be bloody evil.

Angle grinders & chain saws have to be the most respected power tools ever!

Flesh & bones are no substitute for concrete, metal & wood!

Good it wasn't more serious!

Jeez Rich!! that's a sore dose!! Note to self " No wire attachments on angle grinder"

Be careful out there people!!

Ouch!

I worked an angle grinder into my knuckle about 10 years ago! Effffing painful! I used Duck tape as a bandage....until it went a little sceptic!

I must admit I use and like those knotted wire wheels fitted to the grinder, I use to strip off already flaking paint off metal and they do a damn good job with no messing but you do have to be careful, they're lethal.

Yours could of been much worse, get the germolene out .

I would suggest using one of this type, much less likely to catch and jerk I would imagine.... I've never had a problem anyway!

Note to self DO NOT google "angle grinder accidents"

Glad you are OK and you got off really lightly

A pity you didn't have a GoPro, it would've been pretty funny to watch on YouTube!

Seriously, you were very lucky, glad you're OK & lived to tell the tale.

Cheers guys, your thoughts and words are a much needed tonic, your not the first to suggest a camera ?, mainly to capture all my accidents to send to YBF, as I am an accident factory according to my daughter. I mean, the day before, I fell into the pet cage door....end on, right in the stomach..ouch. Plus ripped a Vein on my wrist and a aneurism came up and left a 5 inch bruise. What a last few days...
