Right, I've just been offered a cheap set of freshly powdercoated Evo Brembo front and rear calipers, the problem is they were totally stripped down for powdercoating and now have no internals, pistons etc. Are they hard to replace?? are they expensive to replace?? Is it worth my while??

Thanks

Richie

This is all I get, so the question is..What do I need to have these serviceable??

Assembly wise they are very simple. The pistons may cost a few quid though. It depends how cheap you have been offered them. The pistons apparently very rarely fail, it's just the seals. Mine cost £200 for the pair fully assembled but In used condition.

Anyone have any comments on this?? Are they worth it at that kind of money for front and rears?? Is it worth my while getting rears?? I need different discs and a mounting bracket, so what do you guys think?? Let it pass and leave my GTR fronts on?

I think mine are a bit scruffy, also the Evo Brembos look a lot bigger so would look well behind my Veilsides:biggrin: they also have had a nice fresh paint job. I was thinking I could selly GTR's to cover the cost of new discs and the Brembo hardware for the calipers??

I have those alpha brackets i think they are called. Got them from Oz for a pretty penny.

My evo brembos are pretty epic.

Where's Funkysi when I need him!!

Here! :)

You'll need the pistons in those. They're about £35 a pop, so you'll need 12 in total which will be about £420. The seal kit from BiggRed is about £75 from memory.

Doesn't look like they have bleed nipples either. I'd recommend getting stainless steel bleed nipples. There are 2 per calliper - a set will run you £25. You also need dust caps. Genuine ones are about £15 - £20 for all 8.

If you're going this far, get stainless steel lines too. HEL ones are pretty good. They're about £80. Might as well replace the retainer clips also.

Thanks for that Si, I knew you were the man to talk to !! That comes in a £520 plus the price of the calipers!!! So basically, they're not worth getting!!

That's all I wanted to know mate.

I'll ask him, he was kind of looking after me though, he might be pissed if I pass them on to someone else.

I won't be talking to him till next Friday or Saturday. Have you got spare internals for these that you would sell on?? I couldn't justify spending close to €1000 for these fully rebuilt.

Trying to think what mine all cost. I got an utter bargain in the first place and got all 4 callipers, discs and everything for £380. I stripped the callipers, powder-coating was £100, the other bits and bobs added another £50 and I decided to get brand new discs and Brembo Sport pads which ran me £350....so I guess mine came in around €1000 which I think is reasonable for a complete big brake upgrade.

I personally think you still have a good deal if you were to go that route.

Thanks for the info Si, do the rear calipers fit straight on or do I need adapters ?? Are you running 350z discs or Evos? Where did you buy all the Brembo components from?

Thanks

My Brembos are from an R34 GTR. They're bolt-on ie you don't need any brackets or any modifications for them to fit.
