I'm wanting your ideas really on what might improve the looks of my car (externally).

Generally, I think I looks pretty nice but as with everything, there's always more than can be done so I'm interested in what opinions people have.

Please don't be shy, I certainly don't take offence if others are keen and all that.

Here's a couple of pictures of the car:

You not too keen on the 99 spec front Si?

No, I like it, but I don't think it's better or nicer than the original TT bumper.

Fair comment. So can you only get the stillen lips from overseas? And which one, I keep seeing GTZ and type III

MJP gets them in occasionally too, you could also speak to Luke at ZCentre.

There's a crowd on ebay advertising that they are Stillen Distributors... tarmacsportz is the traders name. I know nothing about them just seen it yesterday mate

Mike@MJP got the Stillen Type III for me. Cheaper shipping than trying to bring it in myself.

Yup - same here!

His supplier in the USA is just down the road from Stillen - so Mike has it delivered to his guys; and then shipped here with his next order. You might have to wait a few weeks, but you'll save a fortune in shipping costs. I think I paid about £230 all in, delivered to my door. To put that into perspective, I seem to remember Stillen quoting me something like US$200 to ship it individually.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yes thanks for then selling it on to me Andrew. I've only just managed to source a reasonably good twin turbo bumber. Hopefully will get it on for Beaulieu. Here's a picture just placed on existing.

Well, I've ordered a new number plate and added a nice Z badge on it. I just went for a standard size as I have an mot in a couple of weeks

New number plate has arrived. So, the question is, what is the best looking position on the 89 spec bumper? I can't decide. Some people seem to have it over the tash/mouth, others in the middle of the bar underneath it and some from that bar down.

It looks really well for a standard size plate mate, I don't know what the MOT is like over in the UK, but it's a fail here in Ireland if you don't have the country's abbreviation on the left side ie. UK or IRL in a blue banner.

If you could get away with your design in a 3/4 size it would really make the front of your car pop!! I'm loving the "Z" logo on the black and the 3d Font style!!

Thanks Richie, I stuck with the standard size to save any issues as my MOT is due in a couple of weeks. I doubt I'll have an issue, but if I do, it's a 30 second job to change

I think you should've got your new plate in a smaller size but exactly the same style as what you've already done. You could've used your old plates for the Mot and then run your smaller new ones as soon as you got out the MOT centre:cool3:

Either way you have got a set of seriously savage number plates matey:thumbup1:

Thanks mate. I think I'll paint the tash next. Considering satin black

What about a high gloss Dark Graphite Grey?? Think it might look good, and keep your bumper all shiny. It would have to be a really dark grey to work though. Just a thought, I might be wrong.

  • Author

Worth a thought. Thinking the satin might look nice, and I already have some which I used for the scuttle panels a couple of weeks back. I can't decide whether ID want to clear coat or not. I'm sure the likes of FunkySi will give his opinions at some point... Although he talks a load of crap, I do think he's got a good eye for what'll suit the cars.

There was also some other great suggestions so hopefully a few will revisit the thread

Great looking car Bird! I think you badly need wheel spacers both front and back. Gives it so much more stance and aggression just like this one posted earlier and Andy Isherwoods

I'm not going to deny that the black one above ^ looks absolutely stunning, but having that aggressive stance and ride height comes at a price.

On a bumpy back road that car isn't going to go very fast at all, I'd beat it in my city run around! Either that or the Zed would need some significant bodywork repairs afterwards.

I like them to look nice, but they've still got to be useable! Then there's round towns where you get caught out by speed bumps and you have to crawl over them sideways at 1mph and still remove all the paint from your bump whilst the granny in her Honda Jazz laughs at you!

Not worth it IMO.

Spacers with the current ride height isn't going to change the ride

I think I have some 20mm hub centric spears in the shed which I'd bought for the front and just never got around to fitting.

I'm not convinced I need any on the back though, I think that since I got the MeisterR coilovers, the wheels sit slightly further in at the top to the bottom. But I'm not sure they're that far out anyway, see here and let me know what you think mate...

I agree, those 20mm spacers on the front and go for some 10mm spacers on the rear. That will be a vast improvement. Another vote from me to lose the white lettering too!

Having said that, spacers that size may be too much, maybe 15mm front and 5mm rear. Do you know what the width and offset of your wheels are?
