I know this thread is not about the 300 z but it is about the 240z. And as i have said before. If i was ever to get rid of my 300z it would only be for a 240z. My question is in todays value what would one exspect to pay for a nice clean example oh and right hand drive. Cheers.

I think the last reasonable 240Z on z club site sold at £9k and the new owner is spending a lot of money to get it how he wants it.

You are going to be lucky to find what you describe but start at £12k and keep on to infinity. 260Z's a little less and around £3k for one which needs lots of work. 260Z 2+2 cheaper still but panels hard to find.

The car of the moment is the 280ZX £3k upwards and appreciating fast.

300zx Z31 will be next if there's any left worth saving.

Not into there motors. But the shell is a sexy looking car but really.ive got a grand to gamble on a rotten shell. Untell you get it up in the air you cant tell. And if its that bad buy the time you jack it up to late because the chassis would have aready have twisted .the door gaps are going to be way out.thats why most 240s and 260s are not straght. How much money are you willing to gamble away on a rotton chassis thats 40 years old.i know you can brace them up but not if you having a look.what can u do take scaffolding pipe and a weilder with you.see.i have a passion for zeds but stuck. Rant over.would u gamble anymore than a grand at a turn of a card/ car.?

Good luck finding any RHD 240z for a grand. A model car maybe, at least you know it'll be straight

last time I seen a shell was last year, and it needed a lot of welding and still sold for over 4k.

You wont get anything for a grand.

I went from a 300zx tt to a 280z a couple of years back, the s30 was always on the list of cars I wanted but somehow I ended up being really disappointed. Going from 350 hp to 150hp left left me screaming for more.... So I ended up doing the l28et swap and slowly it grew on me, but I still ended up selling it because I want back in z32... More power, more comfortable, more space, more of everything :-)

With ref to you more power.

well ive already thought about this and a fourty year old 150bhp car would bore me also. I have over the last week being spending my days doing tonnes of homework into the gtr rb26 dett engine that fits into these cars but the parts are one very exspensive and for around the same power or less in most cases than a standered 300zxtt.unless you have deep pockets so thats were im now in the process of thinking ill be better of pluming in a 300zxtt engine in there.and with the power to weight ratio it would be a rocket as those cars weigh loads less than a 300 .

Thats what im thinking at the moment. And parts are cheaper.

i think a 240z running 400plus would be awsome.

Although the 280Z is a fine car in its own right .... its not a 240Z .

Being a LHD and US only model severely limits appeal here in the UK. There are probably less than 10 in the country.

Naturally for the scandanavian market LHD is a useful feature:thumbup1:

But like the 260Z it will alway be less desirable (and hence less valuable) than an equivalent spec/condition 240Z.

The v6 twinturbo swap is a difficult one as the engine is so wide. But you can get the engine further back so weight distribution could be better, also leaves heaps of space up front for different coolers. It's doable but I think I'd rather would have done a straight 6 swap. If not a Nissan one then a 2jz or something. The easiest by far is the zx turbo swap, bolts straight in. I had mine up an running in five days, two of them only working a couple of hours and one day welding a new exhaust. And the stock l28et has 200hp stock. Put an intercooler and a good exhaust on there, up the boost 0.2 bar, all in a car weighing half a ton less than the z32 and you're getting there! Stuff an lsd in the back and it really gets good. It's a great handling car for its age.

A friend of mine had the rb26dett swap in a 240 gnose with minor mods, was pushing near 400horses I believe. Was an absolute beast!

not on here and not by me but there is the following being offered also gives an idea of what is needed for conversion Also I believe a fair few Z32 owners drawled over the installation at Billing a few years ago

I HAVE A 1974 260Z, WHICH I HAVE FULL RESTORED OVER 15 YEARS.

FIVE YEARS AGO, I FITTED A 1991 300ZX Z32 TWIN TURBO, WHICH HAS 350BHP AT THE CRANK WITH FULL DYNO DOCUMENTATION.

I HAVE DECIDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH A CORVETTE V8 AND I HAVE DECIDED TO OFFER SOMEONE WITH A 240Z/260Z A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE EVERYTHING NEEDED AS A PACKAGE. IE EVERYTHING TO CONVERT YOUR Z.

THE PURCHASER CAN GO FOR A TEST DRIVE (CO-PILOT) IN MY 260Z BEFORE I REMOVE THE ENGINE AND PARTS.

THE TWIN TURBO'S HAVE DONE LESS THAN 5K

1991 300ZX Z32 ENGINE, BEEN VERY RELIABLE

X2 MANUAL GEARBOX'S

CUSTOM BIG INTERCOOLERS & ALL PIPE WORK

X2 ECU

PLUG AND PLAY ENGINE WIRING LOOM

NEW MK2 PTU

X2 TURBOS

X2 COMPLETE HEADS

OIL COOLER FOR CAR

GREEDY BOOST CONTROLLER

PROPSHAFT

240s are one of those cars that if you have to ask or follow the beaten track it's probably not for you. Deep pockets and or lots of mechanical talent are required. It's a car that rusted well when they were new so time has not been kind.

I do love them though and would love an s30 chassis with a v8. Sadly I don't have the time or finances to support two toy cars.

Pending what comes along steve and how mad i go. But whatever i do has to be done from scratch on these

.. ant going to be cheap.a strip down of a compleate car.a glass blasted back to bare metal .thats a grand to do just to get to see whats left.got an engine and good box sorced already. Just need to find the right shell/ car. Not to bothered about the chasses rails rotton and floor.as long as the turrett tunnels and the rear quaters are in good shape. Floor can be made new.new sills etc. If i get a compleate car then itll be easyer and cheaper from the start.its probly going to cost anyware between 2.5k to 3.5k just for the rotten shell. So pending how quick it comes along. Then yes my car will go.
