Ok so it's actually a little more sinister than it first appeared. I knew it has had a front end collision when I took the bumper off as the crash bar is missing and where it would mount is all bent. However looking under the car the chassis is also bent with a crack in it so that also needs repairing, it has had shitty repair work done all round which I need to spend some time sorting out. Had her since November I think?

Just not had much time to work on her, I have an ST205 as my daily which needs constant TLC too (snapped driveshaft on her last week)

As the evenings are getting lighter I have more time to spend on the zed, she runs beautifully now that I've done the fmic and the pcv valves. I need to sort her out structurally and bodily, buy her some XXR 527s and some TRC and she should be back on the road for some summer cruising.

Just hope there are no more hidden nasties!

There is always something mate.

You'll get it sorted in time.

i have a similar looking front end to you where some clown has put it into something very hard in the past... the joys of panel work!

Unfortunately it's one of those things you can't really investigate without putting the car up on a ramp or removing body panels, it wasn't insurance declared either.

It was up for sale for a while last year on here Si, being sold with suspected leaking turbo seals but it was just the PCV valves luckily.

What wasn't in the description that she'd had her face rearranged at some point, shows how these cars can be a real handful in the wrong hands!

There is ALWAYS a way of telling if a car is straight, u just have to look closely at it, there's always clues to previous repairs or accidents without removing panels or getting up on ramps.

That's a shame mate, is a nice looking car otherwise. I almost went for it when it was up for sale but was concerned about the seal, at least that was just the PVC! :)

Good luck with the repair work.

I had the same issue with my first z

It wasn't untill I removed the engine for a clean up that I discovered the bent chassis rail.

Yeah same, My RH headlamp bowl was a bit worse for wear and the outer wing mounting points was crumpled up.

At least when I'm finished I'll know she's all straight and rust free, should have a decent example then.

only for people who know what they are checking for... i wouldnt have a clue unless it was in my face obvious.... ie damaged outer panels, how can you tell if underneath a panel is buggered?

Well to be honest, it's clearly visible in the pics, nearly all that can be seen just lifting the bonnet

Holy rust batman I've a bit of a lemon here...

The 'repair' work that's been done is shockingly bad, rust inside all the inner sills and floor is dented.

Anyone hungry for parts...

No not yet!

...just had a look. I remember that car. It used to be fairly local to me. Seemed fairly tidy on the top side!

Pleased to say when I cavity waxed mine a few weeks ago, I removed rear quarter trims and seatbelt reels, this gives access down inside rear of sills, I was happy to find it still looked as it did the day it was built, cavity waxed the whole area inside using dinitrol, time will tell how good a product it is, I did research it and it's what the MOD use, and they still run some old pieces of kit so it must be pretty good.

Had my dad have a real good look over it take some measurements etc, looks like it is quite bent not 100% sure we'd be able to straighten it to the point where id feel safe driving it. I think me bottoming it out has revealed how badly it's been crunched before, chassis cracks, bent floor plan etc and without access to a ramp/pit is going to make repairing it interesting to say the least.

Gonna have to have a bit of a think about this one...
