As many of you know, a few of our cars where chosen to be exhibited at the Classic Car Show last year at the NEC; this has to be one of the highlights of owning my own 300zx.

 

Well, whilst I was off having a chat with Quentin Wilson, Mandy spotted another celebrity eyeing up my car! Unfortunately he had gone by the time I'd returned, but mentioned who he was.

 

My parents came up later on that day and I mentioned him to my father and he then told me that he knows him vaguely and got in touch with him. It just so happens that he (Jon Bentley - TV presenter and former executive director of Top Gear) had a 300ZX as a press-launch vehicle back in 1990 and has a big admiration for the car.

 

Well Jon is now keen to meet up, have a drive in mine and to talk about the car. Hopefully this may raise the profile a little more!

 

So, thanks Mandy for pointing him out and letting me know! You're a star! :)

Thats great news Si and hopefully with his Top Gear past he can get them to feature the 300zx. But dont let that eejit Hamond drive it or Clarkson or Captain Slow but maybe the stig :lol: But being serious thats good news and well done to Mandy for spotting him and to you guys for showing your cars at the NEC for the club. Look forward to any updates Si.

Well, Jon Bentley is coming to visit on Thursday!

 

I will see what additional notoriety we can get gifted to us by him on the Z32! It's a shame Mandy isn't with us to hear of it.

What a thoroughly nice guy! He's only just left actually and was here all evening. We took the Z out and he discussed the one he had. He took lots of photos and showed genuine interest! 'It's a fabulous looking thing' was said. Spent a long time discussing Top Gear with him and he still has the old screen takes from when he brought James May and Jeremy Clarkson on board.

 

He still keeps in regular contact with Tiff who he's good friends with and I mentioned to him the Nissan promo video that Tiff did and he says he'll have a chat with Tiff about the car. Jon took quite a few notes from me too and he says he is likely to use them in a future article.

 

He's also up for meeting again! Hopefully when I've had chance to replace the rear bushings and fit my Brembos!

In all fairness, John first saw Simon's car at the NEC when it was parked next to mine. It was Simon's that caught his attention and interest so I'll stand down on that one :p
