I wrote off Jan's Zed on Thursday. Got a few cuts and bruises and big pain where the seatbelt diagonal was.

On the A64 on the Malton bypass. There's a long drag up an incline, then it goes into a right hand bend and just before the bend ends starts on the downward descent. About 500 yards further on is a layby where a camera van hides sometimes.

I came up the long drag slowed to about 50 - 55 foe bend and was looking for the camera van when I hit an unsalted outside lane full of snow and slush and ice.

Well it started to slide I corrected but I must have over corrected or something because it went off the road and the all hell broke loose It demolished a small tree with the back end the wheels dug in to the soft eart so the for from suspension offside was ripped out and wheel ended up at about 45 degrees from where it should be. The back end is out of of alignment as well after the argument with the tree It came to rest facing the right way in a very sorry state.

There are some nice bits on it that are worth salvaging It's a 98 version R NA Auto It's got a good engine and gearbox and the engine has all the earth straps done It's got the electric drivers and passenger seats from my Green Zed

Its got the Version R skirts and I want the interior cards if we can do a salvage. Insurance wise it's fully comp and we'll have to see how much they offer and how much we can buy it buy it back for.

Yes I know It's a crying shame The guy behind me who stopped to see if I was ok said there was absolutely nothing you could have done to prevent it. Another car went up the bank about 150 yards further on but didn't do anything to the car and an Audi A3 on the other side spun and overturned but no one was seriously injured.

Sorry to hear that Tony. Glad you're ok though. I hope you find a worthy replacement!

Really sorry to read this but stuff the car, the main thing is you're still with us :)

Sorry to see this tony. Really unfortunate mate. Glad your still here and that's the main thing.

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Bad news, mate!!! :( As has already been said though, the truly important thing is that you're still here and that your injuries aren't more severe!

Every Winter we lose nice Z's and thats why mine is in the garage. Real sorry to hear this Tony and I know we haven't seen eye to eye at times but I am glad you are ok and walked away from it. I know you cared a lot for your two Z's and they are great examples but you can replace it with another which is something you cant do if you lose your life or a limb. Take care and start looking for a replacement plus you have the club behind you if you need help.:clover:

Sorry to hear that Tony, glad you are ok though, such a shame for a rare zed to bite the dust :scared:

Really sad news, but as had been said, at least you are ok. Sounds like unhappy timing with other cars going off nearby. Must be a bit of a black spot

as above, its only material. There are other zeds out there and you get to start your zed adventure again!

Glad your okay buddy.

Always sad but walking away unscathed is great. Good luck

that's pretty harsh mate least you walk away, out of interest I wonder how many of the crashed 300s could have been avoided with race logic traction control I will be fitting it to my z when its back on the road

Sorry to hear it mate. Not nice having accidents and loosing your pride and joy. At least you are alright buddy :)

Sorry to hear that indeed Tony - and as everyone else has said; it could have turned out a lot worse for you!!

It is real shame to see such a fine Zed lost, but at least you walked away - and you still have your TT to enjoy. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery from your aches and pains....:clover:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

In my experience traction control is bugger all use in ice/snow. I'd even go so far as saying it can make matters worse.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Example - system senses right rear wheel spinning up and cuts power to that wheel.

Left wheel still has some traction but then hits slippery surface. Before you know it you have a huge power bias to the left rear on a slick surface and off you go doing a pirouette.

I only know this as that's how I stacked my VXR8.
