Got given a lecture by a cyclist this morning......

As title says, I was stupid enough to give a member of the lycra-wearing Taliban an excuse to lecture me on my poor driving this morning.....

It was around 7.15am, dark and wet, as I approached a main road; looking to go straight ahead into the side road opposite. Then, seizing the opportunity of a clear break in the traffic to my right, I dared to move forward across the first half of the road.... Only to have a chap on a bicycle, whom I failed to spot, stop inches short of my driver's door. Said chappie then launched into a tirade of verbal abuse - "Why don't I look where I'm f***ing going....?" "F***ing Mercedes drivers....!" "Do you own the f***ing road....?" etc etc......

I let him carry on for what seemed like ages.... Then when he'd finished, I politely replied.... "Hmmm, it's dark, wet, visibility is pretty poor - but that's no excuse...... For a sanctimonious c**t on a bicycle to be riding all in black; with no hi-vis clothing and above all NO LIGHTS ON HIS BIKE!!!" The twunt shouted back, "I've got my f***ing lights....." then he looked down only to see the harsh reality staring back at him....:nono:

He shouted back a final "F**k you!" and scurried off behind me on his merry way. I hope it made his day like it did mine....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Take time to look for cyclists Richard...lol. Riding a bike in the dark, with no lights wearing black is pretty much a death wish, some may call it genetic engineering of a sort.

im now a cyclist and a runner, i have a flashing hat, lights that flash hi viz everything and they still pull out on me, ive had more than one run in with drivers and most of them actually see me, they do think they have right of way, i dont jump red lights and i ride like im driving a car trying to adhere to the laws of the road

not sticking up for this guy as i think anyoone stupid enough to be riding around like he was needs to be fined but i do feel his pain lol

On the other end of the scale, I had two cyclists heading towards me tonight with flashing headlights so bright that I couldn't see anything in front of me and after they had past I see couldn't see anything due to burn marks at the back of my retinas! I'm all for safety on the road, but some of these Xeon/LED lights are getting pretty bright!

Better than a motorcyclist riding in the Cycle lane where you can't see him when a car lets you out !

Hahahahha! Awesome!

I'm a keen mountain biker, but road cyclists often piss me off. Why, when councils invest millions in cycle lanes do they continue to cycle on the road? I agree with tossers who wear dark clothing and have no lights on, that drives me up the wall.

Police were giving on-the-spot fines a few years ago when they had a crackdown on it. Standards have slipped in recent years. Reckon they need another TV campaign!

Common sense lacks!

Enough of your sex life on the forum, please

was that your iPhone again Si.... You should stick with your old Samsung Android

Yup! Same shit! I hate this iPhone, over rated piece of overpriced nonsense! I miss my droid! I will be going back to one!

I was an extremely keen cyclist in my late teens early 20s, not road cycling that's boring. Sorry if anyone is into road cycling but it's the worst discipline and the people who do it are often the worst cyclists. YOU are NOT in the Tour de France, your too slow for starters and for seconds it's an open public highway not a racetrack that means cycling 2-3 or even 7 abreast whilst you jostle to place all the while ignorant to the tailback your causing because it's a national speed limit road and your barely doing 30mph!

Road cycling has become very popular over the last few years, the new golf apparently in terms of social networking. It's horrendously expensive for a good bike and as I say in my opinion bloody boring. Give me trails any day it's akin to a "fun run" IMO.

Reminds me of an time some time back when I was cruising in my 200sx s13 and up ahead was this group of cyclists 4 to 5 abreast (illegal in South Africa and most countries I'm sure) taking most of the road holding the odd car which had to wait for oncoming traffic to pass. I thought I would make a point here so I timed it perectly and dropped a gear and got the boost up and accelerated and as I was alongside I changed up a gear and my super loud BOV vented its lungs. As I passed and they appeared in my rear view mirror all I saw was a bunch of arms up in the air with extended middle fingers....LOL....I swear the devil made me do it.

It's not actually illegal here in the UK - although the Highway Code does stipulate that cyclists should ride single file on many roads - it is nonetheless inconsiderate to other road users when groups of cyclists ride 4-5 abreast and do not file in behind each other, if other traffic wishes to pass.....
