Scottish independence and The United Kingdom

(This is a serious comment or questioning, it's supposed to be a bit if stupidity)

So if Scotland vote for independence that will leave the United Kingdom as England and Wales, obviously part of Ireland as well is that still controversial as well? So basically are the only countries in the UK that want to be part if it England and Wales? Only 20 people live in Wales, I've been there, some cities but mostly mountains. So are we on the verge of being the United Kingdom of one? Will we have to revert to being just plain English? That could be interesting seeing as it's public opinion that the St Geogres Flag is the EDL logo. Also considering I'm about 40% Scottish can I get dual nationality and rack up the points on my Scotish liecense, just like the toffs from the Channel Islands.

A million miles from this thread which has no bearing on the current dilema btw so i dont know why certain posters are getting high rate but there you go:rolleyes: it appears to me that Scotland want to not be ruled by Westminster Alians from another planet who have never and never will listen to the peoples wants untill it gets to something that might upset there political agendas..Its a bit cynical watching all the westminster heads promising everything at the midnight hour when they should of been playing fair years ago with our north of the border brothers, so in my eyes they from that other planet in London have brought all this on themselves. May the best man win tonight i say:D

There are going to be arseholes on both sides of the referendum. Regardless of the results I think this should be used as an opportunity to change things in the UK. It's about time the whole of the UK had a fair deal. Maybe for example; Parliament should be moved to somewhere in the center of Britain and away from London. Another is change the status of the countries that make up the UK to Regions. The UK would be called Britain and England, Scotland Wales and N.I would be no longer be Countries in there own right but regions of Britain.

These are just thoughts off the top of my head and there are probably lots of problems with them. I do feel that we would all be much better pulling together then splitting up though.

The geographic location of Parliament should make no difference on a tiny island like ours.... Each country has it's administrative centre in its capital city - which is part and parcel of why it became the capital city over the centuries. France is far bigger than the UK, but there are no problems with it being governed from Paris in the (relative) north of the country - and France has different regions which were like independent fiefdoms back in the day. Canada and Australia are larger still; yet there are no issues with them being governed from Ottowa or Canberra respectively.

The USA works on similar basis to the UK; central government in Washington but with each state having its own laws and (sub) administrative centre - here we have London, but Wales, Scotland and NI each have their own devolved centres of administration in their respective capitals too. Scotland already makes many of its own laws - and did so before Brother Blair devolved power to the individual assemblies back in 1999......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Apparently they have voted to stay, it's not official yet but it's unlikely there will be enough yes votes to swing it now.

Gonna be a lot of drunk scotts today, not because the vote didnt go their way just the fact a lot of them are alcoholics lol

But joking aside, william wallace fought for their freedom, there is nothing more free than the power to vote, it may or may not have ended the way you wanted but you got the free choice to vote and you must accept the fact that a majority of the scottish people wanted to stay as a union

Good luck for the future
