So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

So here she is as I bought her :

So I've two more tailgates out the back and now I know how to get the glass out

i'm thinking of taking one of the better glasses out the other tailgate.

I see a kit similar to what I used in the garage on ebay but is £25 cheap or should I

get a better one.

Make sure you check the grade of tint!

Also, don't worry about those clips, they're for factory use only. Not required.

No, I am talking about the factory gradient. Make sure you have matching glass all round. I am sure all your tailgates are not blue-tint. :)

Old Tailgate which is japspec glass :

Tailgate of breaker which I presume is UK :

Now we haven't removed the quarter glass and I never intended to due to the difficulty of it.

So would it be possible to tint the clearer glass down to the same as the quarters.

Also the front is cracked and is getting replaced under insurance so no idea what that will be either.

You'll never match them. The rear quarters are quite straight forward to take out, you just have to be careful. Mine have been in and out twice now, no breakages. I even cut them out of a donor vehicle that Mark Derby had and they came out in one piece with no damage to the seals/trim.

No, they're bonded on. Cut them out from the inside!! Use a long and very sharp knife and some spray lube. Just need to cut through the bond, it takes about 15-20 minutes to remove each window. Don't pull too hard on the glass. Easier to do with the inside trim removed too.

I'd put a brick through those bronze tint quarters and get yourself some nice blue ones! haha ;)

If you call out National Windscreens, they'll come and do it. They sent their best guy to me both times and he did a fantastic job. To remove my rear screen and rear quarters, store them and then refit them only cost me £150. To me that was worth it as I HATE mask lines and overspray on window rubbers etc. To take out your rear quarters, you'll be paying under £100. Since you're having a quite extensive repaint, you really ought to go just that bit extra and have them removed. :)
