Hi Terry and all the London and South East members......

Just wondered who is going to Japfest this year and if we have anything planned for either a convoy or a rendezvous point for members????

If not can we arrange something please??

Thanks....

I was there in the 2+2 as Pete said. Had a decent run on track in the first session and was very pleased with the cars behaviour considering how heavy it is and in full street trim. In fact it behaved so well on the drive home too I've decided not to break it :) So I didn't have loads of fuel and didn't go out on the second session and sat in with Pete see how his car went. This was useful as it taught us how poor the federal trackday tyres were in cold and wet but Pete soon got the hang of it. For the final session we decided to take Pete's car out rather than mine to try and better understand the suspension. I drove but unfortunately it was wet so couldn't push too hard with those tyres but we did have a lot of fun locking the brakes and spinning up and again found out some good info for setup come TOTB. Yes it was a long queue and yes it was wet but all in all a pretty good day and a big up to all those who made it.

Was that the blue z you were in twice? I saw that, very nice car

Queue wasn't too bad got some rays with the ts off

me and three others from up north made decision not to go based on wheather forcast i myself have a vert and done do outings in rain so the throught of driving down in rain spending all day wet and driving a 3 hr+ there and back plus £150 in fuel doesnt do it for me ,just sods law we beleaved forcasters .

It was still pretty wet from what I heard dude. Heavy rain in the morning and showers throughout the day and rain in the evening.

wasn't to bad at all wet wise

Cant remember heavy rain in the morning just one short heavy shower of about 5 minutes just before after noon session

You are all turning into proper classic owners not taking my car out in this as they might get wet oh ops did not go out in it and missed out meeting people

It wasn't so bad at the venue but the weather was pretty poor driving there. The M4 was bad and TBH I don't blame people for not taking the chance. Lot of 300s would struggle with pop chargers etc and I admit I was a little worried myself on the way.

Thanks Steve for taking the trouble to organise it mate. I used to run a motorbike trials club and it's a thankless task sometimes but I used to get a kick out of setting some really difficult sections lol.

I got there just after 7 straight in

exactly. I arrived about 10 minutes before you...no problem at all.

Year after year at shows like this the advice beforehand is to arrive VERY early....

and year after year some people disregard the advice...and suffer the consequences .

Japfest and Trax are the two events where this is an annual occurence

I did keep saying this and do every year, I've NEVER qued for more than minutes in or out, thee between 6 and 7 leave between 2 and 3. I've literally rolled in without stopping once before. Breakfast on site is pretty reasonable as well.

The traffic hasnt been bad the last 4 years at around 9:30-10 as i haven't queued more than 20-30 mins...however an overturned horse box i think it was kinda got in the way this year.

pretty gutted as i was eager to put more faces to names..

I got there with Shortz and we sat for 3 hours in queue and finally got in about 9.30-10......

Parked over back of field next to the 240's and 280's...... Didn't know who was who....lol

I did get to meet nncferreira and have a good chin wag...... lol

I am gutted I didn't get to speak to slick pete and bob genie, I didn't even get to talk to steve burns and say thank you for organising things.....

I did get to meet a couple of owners who were really nice.....

Next time we have a meet, can we have a gazebo or something for members of both clubs and forums to meet up at and use for base camp, chats and drinks???

Yes good idea to have a meeting point at these big meets with a club banner and Gazebo so everybody can see it and meet up.I have never been to this event but it seams that members are in different places with the parking area and the race track it is easy not to see other members who are there.

There normally is Gary. Madmarco normally brings a gazebo, he wasn't available this year. The banner was in my car but I never made it.

I will be bringing a gazebo to the next meet I go to anyway, just in case it rains like this time........ gives me somewhere to shelter as well as clean my Z...... lol

By the time we had got there and parked, it looked like I had gone cross country with all the mud, grass and leaves......

But then it rained for a bit and it looked shiny again.......well for a bit......

myself and 3 0ther 300 arived in mini convoy just after 6.30, we were the first 300zx, drove straight in no problem.

Weather wasn't all that bad odd heavy shower now and then but surprisingly sunny also.

Unfortunately couldn't speak to everyone due to me having broken foot and hopping around on crutches and trying to miss the odd shower.

Think I counted about 15 300zx so not bad considering, just a shame display area was not ideal IMO.

Previous years we have had a gazebo there from the Z Club

couple of reasons did not have was a I came up in a 350Z and no room but more importantly even if i brought one along would not have put it up as the wind at times was very strong and if it had been blown over and hit a car did not fancy claiming on the public liability policy

Point taken........lol...... Thanks for all the work you put into organising things Steve...... didn't get to say hello as I didn't have a clue what you looked like and everyone just kept telling me I had just missed you when I asked......lol

should have just looked for the guy who looks most like a GOM LOL

should have just looked for the guy who looks most like a GOM LOL

That would not have worked..................................

Remember me and Bob were there too!!!!

I was there, I was one of the ones who traveled in with icewhitebear and co. I own the blue import one with the ugly body kit and blue interior :)

so how many did then turn up out of ? how many said they were going

This was (as I understand it) all tickets to be purchased and paid for in advance - so, in theory, those who were down to attend should in theory be there; having paid for their tickets up front......

......However I did just that a year or two ago; but sadly despite getting to the M4 J17 in good time, I got caught up in an almighty traffic jam some 5 miles shy of the venue. And after an hour of going nowhere, decided to call time - and angrily drove 90+ miles home again. Without being negative about what is undoubtedly a great event, that sadly put me off - both at the time and for the future. I mean, I was in the vicinity of Japfest circa 7 - 7.30am - yet I could not get near the place. I have not experienced that at other events in which I have chosen to participate, thus sadly my judgement has been clouded.

Richard:sad:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
