Took some more bits to work today, not very interesting bits...

I've removed the aircon, I never use it and in the summer when its really hot I take the roof off,

And its made loads of room, the mount where the compressor bolts to had a big bulky bit sticking out so I cut the mount down, going to sand blast it and then paint it...

I am doing the water bypass so this pipe had other pipes welded to it I cut them off and painted it satin black

I primered the throttle cover its being painted 2k gloss black...

The little heat sheilds cleaned up and painted silver/grey colour and yes I know its sad but used some coloured bolts lol...

And I sat in the car tonight so thought id take a pic of my dodgy clocks,

The rings round the speedo/rpm are from a mk4 astra there the same size

It does say its only got 1853 miles I turned them back to 0 so I know how many miles I have driven the car, its gonna have a fully rebuilt engine and nearly everything is new anyhow so who cares about mileage lol and when I bought the shell there was no clocks to tell anyway.

Gonna turn it back to 0 again once the new engine is in so i can tell exactly how many miles it has done.

UK glass FTW!

Look at the blue-glow! So much nicer than the fag-stain look of bronze tint! ;) You know you wanna do THE LOT! ;)

I will have front screen and both doors, but rear and quarters im going to tint black...

But your right it looks more modern on your car...

You'll need the T-tops too as UK and sapphire blue / late spec JDM cars had blue t-top glass. :)

My car has a UK rear screen, UK passenger window, JDM quarter windows and drivers window and a brand new screen! LOL. I basically looked around for the very best condition I could find. Lots of UK cars and higher mileage cars have nasty scoring marks on the door glass.

So was your drivers window new (jdm) mine has slight scratches but not has bad has the jap spec glass I have...

Nope, but it was from a low mileage JDM breaker. It is as near as damn immaculate. Even better than the passenger side which is also reasonably good. The first set of glass bits I bought had a lot of witness scratches on them. At first it didn't bother me, but the drivers' side was so bad, I threw it in the trash. I replaced all the nylon rollers on them too.

Generally I find, UK door glass isn't all that great. Because of the condition of the roads/salt/grit and the fact that most cars are left outside, debris, shit and grit get caught in the seals and that's the start of window damage. Make sure your seals are clean and grit free and try not to wind the window up and down if you're driving it in the winter or wet. Shit gets flicked up by other cars etc. As you know, mine lives in the garage all winter, overnight and when it's raining, so it rarely gets any debris on it. Few flies on the front end and the odd bird crap and that's about it!

The glass I took out of mine, the original bronze tint was also very very clean and scratch free. I sold it on to TonyB actually along with my old rear screen and t-top glass.
