Black Carbon fibre wrap..... came out okay as a quick / temp fix.....IMG_0228.jpg

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Mine are black makes the front screen, targa glass and rear screen all look like one piece of glass,

An absolute requirement IMO! If you're going to go that route that it is imperative that they're painted GLOSS black to match the b-pillars and more importantly, the sheen of the glass. Matte just doesn't work IMO.

I think it depends on what colour the car is. I think having body colour roof bars on a red car and dark coloured cars probably would work better. Lighter coloured, silvers and whites, it's more complimentary.

Vig's just had his done gloss black however after seeing mine, try getting some photos of his car from him.

Apologies for the low res pictures as they were my signature years ago:

I like it. 'Cause you've got the 'tash too, it works. Looks good without too, but that's because it's red and it works well either way IMO. White cars really need it I think. When I had mine done, I got the centre bar repainted also. The bit that unscrews from the roof between the two T-tops.

One thing I also recommend you do Joel, if you're inclined to, is swap out the glass for UK/Blue glass. It makes a HUGE difference.

Black roof bars are for winners. Optically it drops the roof line creating a sleeker portrait view of the car

I am inclined to agree with this too.... I have been thinking of getting it done myself; but I'm not unhappy with the "old" look - although it certainly does make the car appear more modern. It emulates the current crop of coupes with glass sun-roofs (eg the Merc C-class); the gloss black (and yes, it has to be gloss) continues the sleek profile of the dark glass....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Interesting topic, whilst waiting for my car to come back this is one of the many cosmetic changes I have been pondering on. Thanks for posting the comparison photo Joely as it really helps. I think that I may wrap mine in gloss black vinyl before I take the final plunge as it were.

To me it looks plain odd when the targas are out with black roof bars. Perhaps it is colour sensitive.

I get where you're coming from. If you paint them in their entirety, rather than just the surface areas that are exposed when the targas are in, it can. Mine are fully painted including the hidden bits that aren't visible when the targas are in. With the targas out, it looks more like an aerotop Supra. I think it is colour sensitive. I used to dislike the look mine had with the targas out and all the paintwork in view. Now it's all hidden by way of being black and gives a more slick appearance.

That wasn't quite what I was getting at, as I should have said with all the hidden roof bits painted black too.

It is just when the targas are in, then the whole surface (windscreen, roof elements, targas and tailgate glass)

become a single visual "black" entity. When the targas are out you are left with a black H shape in the roof

surface which breaks the visual effect, as your eye now sees the interior components of the car. So the H part is

now smaller visual element between the windscreen and tailgate glass and to me looks better in the dominant

body colour.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

To be honest I think they look a bit weird with targa's off if there black or body colour it spoils the shape,

I like taking targa's off in summer for the noise and wind etc...

But don't like the look that much.

There is a certain something that just isn't right with black roof bars.

Its better on coloured cars maybe, on light shades i'm really not so sure.

As Andrew said, it also looks strange with the Targas off. (I'm a BIG fan of the Targa's off look, that is when the Zed pushes it's exoticness... :chinese: )

This is my current plan.

Joely - got your message on FB. I've got a couple of pics on my phone I can send you if you send me a whatsapp...

But after seeing Si's it was a no brainer for me! I think it looks the nuts now. Though I haven't actually taken the targas off since it's been done so can't comment on how it looks with them off now....
