Back in the UK for short period to liquidat - RE: my High Spec 300zx - Todays Values?

Heya Guys,

I notice a few of the regulars still posting so thought I'd put this up for some honest advice.

I pretty much live in France now chasing surf and am back for 3 months to finish a long list of left-behind projects.

I'm 100% going to shift this 300zx of mine (The White one I used post loads of pics for and as far as I could tell was always in the top 5 power-houses in the UK) -- I don't say this to start a debate!! :)

So, I haven't even started my 300zx since JapFest a few years ago, it's sitting in the same garage it was always in. AND There-in lies the Rub - House is no longer mine and the new inhabitant ( Mother-in-Law) is F'ing and Blind'ing to get it gone.

With the £45K+ that went into it's build and hardly any miles on it, I always thought it was worth an easy £7K+... but never got any serious interest.

Within a few weeks I may just stick in on ebay and get what it gets.

- If you think there's legs in it & there'd be interest - I'm happy to rejoin here also to stick it up as a sale thread as in parts it would be worth double what I get in a sale, I think.

So, What sort of number should I be expecting on sale?? High/Low? Granted it's the wrong time of year!

Many Thanks and hope all is well in the world of Zedheads

Welcome back mate - good to hear from you!!

I do remember you put a lot of work into your Zed so it's a shame you have to offload it now. As for interest n the car, it's hard to say now that the summer season is over... But if you do decide to resub, at least you have the chance of a continuous advert until it does sell:wink:

Good luck in whatever you decide,

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

OK.. In order to fend off any hate mail for posting what could sound like a for sale thread, I just paid my renewal on an annual subscription..

So some sound advice for my £10! ? :)

-------

- I'm going to sell it for whatever it makes. I need it gone within a month. I bought it in 2006... put a total of perhaps 400 miles on it.

The Starter motor packed at ZedFest and had to bump start it to get home.

Going to take that off this weekend and get it re-manufactured.

NO Insurance, NO Tax, SORN. so pretty much NO Test Drives.

That will Drive the Price Down!!! eh.

Bloody hell, that was fast mate!! You didn't even wait for a single "cough up" comment....

Either way, thank you for your support and good luck with the sale:biggrin:

Have you though of taking it to France with you and selling over there? Reason I ask is my last Z went to a guy in Germany who makes a lot of money buying Jap cars here and selling over there. They command a much higher price on mainland Europe as they are rarer, having it based in France opens up several countries to sell it into, quite easy to open a German/French etc Ebay account. A bit of hassle sorting MOT / tax etc but at least you'd get to drive it again for one last time..

I agree with Anthony. Z32s in France go for anything up to €14k. Their Z32 market has a higher value as there were even less of them over there. Most Z32s in France are in pretty good shape as people looked after them for the cars that they are with almost none of the turds that you typically see over here.

.. starts to sound like a reasonable idea but cannot get sidetracked.

Time is the most valuable and limited commodity in my life at the moment.

I'm here until Christmas in Alaska until April and then back to France for June for good. I have nowhere to put this car until then and my Mother in law has said in no uncertain terms to get it out of her garage as a matter of urgency.

for the moment going to replace the Starter motor, get it "purrring" for people to see that it runs sweet. And then sell to the highest bidder, sight as seen.

So anyone want to show their hand with a guess'timate?

It can only only be imported to France if it's a uk/euro spec. Something to do with their rules, a Jspec doesn't comply, that and the fact that the French are plain awkward.

Are you sure about that? There are a few USDM cars in France.

I believe it's do able but becomes complex, it most likely helps that there lhd. But yeah permanent export is a pita.

hmmm can't get onto the photos but look forward to seeing some, going ot research teh specs! ebay I would say it will reach £3.7k if you are lucky, and that is no disrespect to the car but just the ebay market these days. as a private sale I would say around 5k but this depends on the spec of course!

And the time it can take. GLWS buddy.

Shame this has come up for sale when It has, I'll be stepping up to the tt plate soon, just pricing up the best options, sell mine and then buy, or just do an engine swap.

Mine is UK 300zx... in case anyone wants buy to export it to Euro!

If you wanted to take it to France to keep or sell on, you could contact Hubert who exported a UK Zed there for advice:
