Working away is boring. Often I'm on my own, I'm in Torquay this evening, finished at 5 went to the hotel, went for a walk had dinner... Bored! TV is rubbish poverty vision, internet access is very limited, ie I have to wait till the e comes up to post. Anyone else regularly do this boring routine?

Nope......

.......And to make it worse, I bet all the porn channels down there involve farm animals......

Chin up Steve, can you have a few beers to while away the time? Last time I was in Torquay, Jim Davidson was doing a stand up show at the theatre - I left there in agony after laughing so much!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

International rescue mate. Nah I work for a electronic water control systems company, most of my time is spent servicing water controllers, dosing pumps etc for commercial swimming pools, everyday is different though few weeks ago I was in Plymouth sorting out an ORP controller for Ozone treatment on a shark quarantine tank... ATM I'm booked in for two days in Torquay to fit and set up a new control system for a hotel pool.

My actual job title is a service technician , but that's pretty vague, I literally get up to all sorts.

I was talking to rich about that very same thing. In my head he had long hair, looked like a rocker. I was find it interesting, like how you perceive a radio presenter to look.

LOL - it must be due to my YouTube links to rock music videos......

In reality I am bald - but still handsome and distinguished; with no trace whatsoever of a beer belly......

Exactly, I think that's why a lot of blokes end up spending it all, boredom. One of guys often just goes to the cinema, that adds up.

What else do you expect to see from a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeeste sweeping majestically across the plains?

Remember visiting my sister in Torquay. She was staying in a hotel whilst working down there. We decided to go to an Indian restaurant but after we walked in, realised we were the only customers but were too polite to walk back out. We then had an embarrassing evening surrounded by all the staff standing round our table staring at us while we ate. Didn't help that we filled up on poppadoms and couldn't eat anything else!! Didn't go back!

Torquay has been my home now for 20 years and I must admit that I have never seen The Hanging Gardens of Babylon or herds of wildebeest down there... however I do have a nice panoramic photo on my wall of Sydney including the opera house... :)

Even though it is a very tourist orientated sea side town, not every restaurant or hotel is worth a visit and also that kind of makes most of the entertainment expensive.

however if it floats your boat there are many walks around the cost with great views.

I have spent the best part of the 20 years commuting to Cardiff and spending lots of nights away from home, luckily for me I've stayed at the same house the whole time and the current owner and I have become good friends.

not possible for you as the locations change all the time, the only thing I could suggest would be take up a hobby that is easy to carry around .. or reading..

best of luck..

PS.. had I read this yesterday and not been working today I would have come out for a chat... don't see many Zed's or enthusiasts down there.. :)

I think your onto something there with the hobby I can carry around... If I'd have been in my zed I would have been terrorizing Torquay lol, then you would have seen one :) I'm down here fairly frequently though.

Haha, Brian thought you were dull and boring, but not thinks you're actually not that bad!

:rofl: you turn this place into verbal poker...constantly on gaurd what ime saying. BTW oh wise one, finally getting a chance to post your item tomorrow that has been sat on my table all week:blushing:.

Know how you feel Mate, 3 days and 2 nights in London, nobody talks to you in London, nobody can understand my accent in the hotel so no conversation at night.. so I sit and get pissed lol..

its the reason I cant lose weight and I blame it all on working away from home.. lmao..

Id do you a swap for Torquay any day...

Piss off, hahaha London and me don't mix. I'm a country boy, I get road rage on my feet in London and I can't stand well any of it. As I said to my mate earlier in in the West Country so I'm happy with that at least, just bored.
