Come and show your Z off at Haynes Motor Museum next weekend!

Hello everyone.....I hope the committee don't mind me putting this here.

I am sure most of you have seen my thread about the Haynes Motor Museum meet in the local regions section. I had a conversation there today with one of the museum co-ordinators and told them of what we're doing and they're very keen to have a Z car gathering there at their 'Rare Breeds' event which takes place at their adjacent runway next Sunday (1st Sept). She is keen for me to get in touch with her with names and cars that are going as she wants to offer a little club plot and some wrist-bands for the event. There are all sorts of different cars there, so if you're interested in strange, rare or interesting vehicles, then this looks likely to float your canoe!

So I am just wondering whether anyone else wants to come along? So far we have about 11 names and half of those people are bringing their Z cars. It would be great to have some presence there as there is little Z presence at this event and all sorts of other local car clubs go to this. I know this is the week before JAE, but those in the southern counties might want to come along who don't want to make the trek up north, the weather is forecast to be hot and sunny and the event is free (unless you want to have a mosey around the museum - which I must stress is AWESOME and probably the best in the country!)

What a cracking idea, I'd never thought of that. If cling film isn't available is it acceptable to use tin foil or wrapping paper?

That is a good idea (the cling film, that is:wink:) but will it stay on at proper "zx" speeds......:innocent:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Cling film works wonders. Stretch it over the bits you're trying to protect from bugs, pad it down and it does stay there....generally works best on cars that have been waxed.

Si what you think about that Protection Film?

Yeah it's pretty good. I haven't elected for it as there are too many recesses on the front of the stock TT bumper. I also drive quite far back from the car in front and it doesn't get used in winter or the wet which is when you get the majority of stone chips.

Shopping twice? You big gay. :p

Just picked up another member, 370 this time. So all we need is a 280 and a Z31 and we'd have a full compliment! Can't see that happening, but that's not bad!

well annoyed ive gotta work tomorrow!!!

My Z is all clingfilmed up and ready for the morning......

......Not convinced the clingfilm will stay in position for the whole journey at speed though - I guess I'll have to wait and see:wink:

See you in the morning!!

Just come along. I think we'll have space.

well annoyed ive gotta work tomorrow!!!

Real shame you got to work fella looks like i'm billy no mates on the way down and back

Transport Direct says it should take me 2 hours and 39.......

.....maybe in a rancid diesel people carrier it might; but in a fully functioning 300zx, leaving home nice and early, I'd say 1 hour 45....
