A zed came to the workshop last week presenting some odd running problems, the ConZult was showing reasonable settings but if left ticking over slowly get slower and stall, the pick up was just not right and unstable, on a hunch I removed the elderly looking HKS mushroom air filter and once the afm was seperated it was clear the foam filter had started to break up and the afm air flow was getting blocked by the foam bits, a new filter and a clean out and all was good again, worth checking if you have one of these kits fitted.

Do you remember Jeff the problem on my single turbo set up was the foam filter restricting airflow?

Yes that was right, can be difficult to identify it in any normal installations but yours was something else!! do you ever hear anything about it now?

Jeff

Mines has just fallen to bits, was fine last year when i cleaned it out.

Got a choice of ones to put on it now though.

Is the Apexi still the recommended gauze filter? What do they cost?

>> Is the Apexi still the recommended gauze filter?

A problem has been discovered with the Apexi ones as well...

They collapse under high boost...although rumors are this only happens with chinese copies which are sold as legit Apexi's and afaik can not be identified as copies.

example of what can happen:

On a near standard Zed this will probably not happen very easily, but for the bigger powered engines I'd go with K&N or JWT filters
