warning to zedheads with the motors out

Fully re-built my engine EXCEPT checking the tub seals as i could,nt be botherd taking the turbo cartridges apart and after running the motor in then changing oil and filter, knocking the base down to 13 degrees to be cautious for the next few hundred miles untill getting the car mapped.Turned the boost up to 12psi and took it for a spin to be greeted by yep......seal or seals have let go:headvswal.Motor back out and get the tubs re-built and do what i should of done in the 1st place:rofl:. So anyone who has not replaced turbo seals before putting motor back in then this will or might make you think about doing it...what a wonderfull life:D

I wouldnt go stripping the heads down bud, give them a call before you go any further, they need to be shown its not been done. Then id be on the blower to citizens advice, you paid, you didnt receive thread carefully and they wont have a leg to stand on.

They may not have fitted them properly, so the stem seals popped out of place. Troubld is there so hidden in thhe head, not like an old ford pinto sohc or crossflow :( feel for you bud. Is it only on the number 6 exhaust valve? Both, one or more?

number 6 exhaust is drenched but looking behind the valves from the lower plenum and all the rest have oil behind the valves..some worse than others.

Great, thinking about it, if was a case of old ones the block would have smoked like a pig, so its probably a case of improper fitting.

never buy a gasket set from ebay....the lower plenum gasket on both sides had allowed oil to get past the head oil passage and was being ingested by the ajoining inlet ports. The gasket is only 200 miles old and touqed down to correct spec but the rubber inserts in the steel was as hard as the steel:confused1: anyway gave me a chance to get my tubs checked and upgraded seals so not all bad,the show goes on as always:biggrin:

So valve stems were good? The gasket kit was at fault?

valve seals good...tubs good...lower plenum gasket shite and this part has made me have to take the motor out, remove the heads to check valve seals ect but on the goodside its gave me an excuse to get the tubs rebuilt
