  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Belated post....Collected my Zed from Jimmer on Saturday after a 'Full Monty' cam belt change...plus engine fluids and filters service :thumbup1:

Great drive home after...... with the V6 as smooth as a sewing machine.

Many thanks to Jimmer and Donna for their help and hospitality

Well made a start with the engine pull, bit like the road to mordor its a long way to go ....... :scooter:

It’s not that bad tbh. First pull is always the worst, label and photograph everything. It’s only nuts and bolts once the loom and intercooler piping is out the way it’s pretty clear where to go.

Collected a large and surprisingly heavy box from Parcelforce today together with a rather substantial payment to HMRC.

Contents include AshSpec Massive SMICs which as their name suggests are indeed MASSIVE! together with AshSpec 2.5"

IC and planar kits together with associated bits and pieces. I'll post up pics when I've worked out which pipe goes with

which but in the meantime there are a lot of them as you can see! Compared to the stock pipework this stuff looks MUCH

larger. I've pretty much got everthing now for the "bolt on" engine upgrade for Jimmer to put together before the full

bodywork respray later in the year.

Is that center bar between the headlights a stock part?

plodded on with engine removal today got most of the top done, got a stonking headache from the fuel lines, on the passenger side the main loom that goes under the relay box, how do you move that out of the way or do u need to move the relay box or does the loom unplug underneath was just wondering as it was getting late and didnt look at it to much :hammer:

I had a great result today doing a mornings work on the interior. First job was to see if I could rejuvenate the alcantara interior. It had gone so flat in places it had started to look like black plastic. First thing I tried was a stiff shoe brush and although this was making what already looked ok better it wasn’t really having an effect on the flat areas. Then I remembered an old cleaning kit I brought from Clark’s to clean my Timberlands (go on, take the piss if you must. Long live the ‘90s!). The kit comes with a small wire brush, stiff brush and a, what looks like, compressed sand “rubber”. Using the rubber in small circular rubs the alcantara pluped right up. Then with a sweep with the stiff brush it all came together nicely. Don’t get me wrong it’s not perfect BUT it is so much nicer than it was.

I also fount time to throw some Gliptone leather cleaner and conditioner on the seats. I love the smell of this stuff, if cows wore aftershave this is what I think they should smell like!

I also gave her a quick dust off.

Thanks. It so hard to get any good photos with this paint, it looks so much better than in any photo I’ve seen. I’d love to see if a professional photographer could get some before I change the colour in a few years.

Just hope the pipes that connect on the top don't split, I went through 3 pipes because they kept splitting. And they have weird restrictor things in them so not easy to replace.

Spare time is a precious thing nowadays but i find if you dedicate a whole day to the car you will enjoy working on it.

Do you know how to fit it to ensure longevity?

No idea. Was taking it to a body shop and trust their skills. They have a grey zed in at the moment that’s looking pretty sweet. What should I suggest they do?

They aren’t that bad just require a knack. Front end first then push forward and pop in the rear. Done forethought about Jose clamp placement and you can do them up with a ratchet and an extension bar nice and easy.

As for the pipe that joins them to thexam cover, that’s part of the PCV system and I’d highly recommend you replaced these with a nice new supple silicon kit. In fact I’d highly recommend to replace all the hoses, most like the little ones down the back can be purchased by the meter and cost very little.
