  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Crank angle sensor

Doesn't look like its timed correctly being all the way to the left? Someone will clarify

For the record I haven't touched it.

It's just grinding and squeaking away.

If you can or can get it to someone that can, check the timing of the engine

Just had all the plastics off and the timing looked ok. To where the dots line up. It's slowly developed it over the last month or so.

Is there any harm in taking that sensor off now and checking it out and putting it back on exactly where it's been sat for a very long time?

The teeth may be right but if the crank angle sensor is wrong, it will be telling the ecu the wrong position so timing will be off

You can do, mark with a pen the outline of the bolt and when you put it on make sure it is the same place, but as I said it doesn't look like the right place to begin with.

Taken the three bolts out and it isn't budging.

Oh and the car runs absolutely fine. This crank angle sensor is just squealing and sounds horrific.

Should just be the three bolts and pull backwards.

I just looked at the picture again and it is not all the way right, some tape was just covering the hole so it does look round about the middle so may be alright. Always worth a check though.

If you need a replacement I think I have one in alright condition.

All sorted. Silicone grease all the pulleys. No more squealing. Leaving engine running for a bit to see if it comes back.

Alic.....will take you up on that spare sensor though. Might have bent the shaft a tiny bit. It's wobbling a little now it's back on.

Rained as soon as I left but anyway. Still driving like new. Brakes felt a bit shit, but that's probably just corrosion on the discs from sitting up. Slight chirp in front of the engine at idle.
