  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

I took the chance as they cost pennies - and ended up pretty impressed. Except for the scratched hands received, during the fitting process...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Took a drive over to Battlesbridge today to meet up with Mike Feeney to collect my new perspex strip with brake light. Met some new faces and a couple of familiar ones too. Nice little venue and its a monthly meet so if anyone fancies a trip down next time, let me know..

Was a good day despite the weather, nice food in the lodge and good conversation.. Very enjoyable day.. Thanks Mike :thumbup1:

I finally fixed the leak from the t top weather strip. Must thank Jeff for his crib sheet and advice on heating and fitting the rubber ptherwise it would never have stopped leaking. Did a couple of my own tweaks and now its watertight again. Who would have thought fitting a brand new weatherstrip would be so tricky.

I'm having issues with the targas leaking Ian.. Think it's coming in under the seal on the glass on drivers side..

Whilst I'm here, has anyone hot any idea on these plugs? I know the large block is the mirror control, the smallest is the cigarette lighter, but what's the 4 pin white block for? Any clues guys..Screenshot_20170305-202928.jpg

There's a definite knack to fitting and getting the right amount of rubber to bulge out over the glass top lip and press up against the t top piece to close the gap and seal it tight. Took me a couple of goes and my heat gun to get it sorted but all good now plus a little trick with a few drops of superglue.

I think mine are leaking on the top seals Ian, the bit around the top of the glass.

I'm getting water dropping in to the lining on the inside of the targa and its soaked the vinyl and separated the lining from the targa

Cleaned the exhaust and removed the plastidip on my wheels.

The best place for plasti-dip: in the bin! :)

Nothing wrong with plasti dip si. Depends on the application and more importantly, the applicator.. Lol

Note to self never spend £240 on fleabay on budget coilovers. Might as well have put scaffolding bars in there to replaced the three blown shocks. [emoji33][emoji30]

What ones where they? Some have stupid high spring rates.

Have to say I agree there. It's just a paint really.

It does state in the description that they have a preloadable spring tension so I'm going to jack the car back up raise it 30mm and have a tinker around with the springs etc. See if I can change it about a little.

They are also a get me out of jail card as MOT is on Friday this week [emoji85]

I've seen quite a few people have problems with these, ranging from the rear joint being too small and front bushing too wide, to them sounding clunky.

You get what you pay for, but sometimes, buy it once and you don't have to buy it a second time if they fail

Do please enlighten me, I'm all ears!

The only issue I noticed when fitting was the front shocks the bracket for the brake line was upside down [emoji23] but besides that they fitted perfectly. Will see if I can play with the preload and give it some more bounce as opposed to full retard mode of being solid

I thought you looked a bit odd when we last met but I didn't wanna say anything

Like I said though, plasti dip if used on the applications it's meant for, is a marvelous product.

I've coated many metal objects in the past that have served purpose for years without issue.

It all depends on how well it's applied and what it's being applied to. If it's a high use item that's going to come in to contact with the elements, you should use a substance more suitable such as powder coating etc. Plasti dip is more for protecting things that arent exposed to harsh use or abuse.

I used it to protect garden ornaments and metalwork etc, I've used it for plastic parts in cars aswell, never used it on wheels etc as they are obviously exposed to harsh elements and prone to being chipped etc.

Everything has its applications si and everything has its limits to what it can be used for..

Anyway, just a suggestion as you're all ears..

Cotton bud for those spuds mate!?

What wheel size are you running? I had 19" on mine for a while but they were back breaking with the suspension on stock.

Can't be having a ride like that.. Totally ruins you and the car in the long run

Rolling some 17s with 40 tyre wall atm. Wouldn't worry too much about damaging anything as the bushes everywhere are shot.

Stock suspension was lovely apart from both rears and front offside shocks had popped.

As said I'm going to have a tinker with it tomorrow and Wednesday before work at 2 and see what I can do but in the long run I'll be getting some decent coilovers which are completely adjustable to get the perfect ride.

The kids woke me at 6 this morning so went for an early drive to Parkgate with the sun being out. Too early for ice cream though. She's looking really good after Keith sorted the couple of little rust spots.
