  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Did you fix the clutch booster?

No need, clutch booster is fine. Just had a bad connector on a coil pack causing the miss fire :)

I managed to take the N/S front suspension parts to work and jet wash them ready for media blasting tomorrow.

Tried soda blasting with cheap gun and gave up with the nozzle continually blocking up. So tomorrow is time to go and get some Garnet abrasive to try out with my new 20 litre sand blaster tank I received today.

I am going to test a few types of media and see which fits my needs best.....

Trial and error time now....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Fitted some 3mm spacers so instead of a 1mm gap from the brake callipers, I now have 4 :D

Nothing serious I hope.

Well.. Turbos puffing a bit, although I knew that because the blue smoke is a giveaway. Need a new MAF, tensions rod bushing, O2 Sensors, Input shaft bearing - none of which will blow up tomorrow but hoping to have everything done and a restoration respray done for simply Japanese

Cursed it for a moment!

Lol! Getting there I see red!

I've got a couple of photos for you mate but nothing really clear. Our recent summer weather had put the brakes on with stripping the car so couldn't really warrant getting soaked!

Here's a couple of photos anyway..

It looks a little brown in places but it's all solid. Minor surface stuff really.DSC_0235.jpg

Thanks for the photo's NemesizX

Totally understand about the weather mate, it's not as though I am going anywhere in a hurry, but I am making daily progress.

My only worry is, that for some reason, mine has completely rotted through on the back edge and not the front.

That's the one! I've been advised to go for new as you can't guarantee a second hand one (and they're on sale with Z1!) so will make a little basket with the other things I've been advised for and get the placed!

Well, I just thought I'd let you know it was here, I've fitted it to my car and it's working fine in fact I don't think it's had a lot of use to be honest as the mesh is mint and no sign of dirt inside either.. If you change your mind it's up for £90 posted which is about £15 cheaper than any other used one I've come across

Looks mint! [emoji13]

Lol.. They all look like that on the surface Joel, unless of course it's been repainted or undersealed. But most of the original paint is still there,it's solid and I haven't touched it to clean it yet.. It's certainly 100% better than reds one lol

Is the rad orginal? That's on the filler neck end isn't it. It's got that look of, "I've been dripping water on this piece of steel for some time" look about it. I know mines in a lot better condition than this and I think this winter il be stripping the nose cone off like you've done to ensure it stays that way.

Hi Steven.

Yes, the rad is original and as you say, the main corrosion is below the filler cap.

That said though, I have never had a coolant level problem during my ownership. However, when I bought the car, the expansion pipe work was adrift and the cooling system was in poor condition resulting in a leaking rad cap. Mmmmmmmm

Just had another thought, could it be water from the air con condenser causing the problem?

It could be a lot of things, it might have been flushed and left sitting a long time so the water and antifreeze have corroded it away whilst it's sitting.. When people flush their rads, they never seem to consider that the rusty crap that overflows is going straight on to metalwork below.. Rust causes more rust.. Test it for yourself.. Get a piece of mild steel amd put a drop of fresh water on one side and a drop of the brown water from your radiator.. See which one rusts fastest..

Took her shopping this morning to get a bit of heat into the engine.

Then drained the oil, replaced filter, plug and washer. Refilled with the same again.

My oil filler cap has been lightly scuffed by a mallet as I made the stupid mistake of leaving it on!

Gave it a well earned clean

Please don't look too closely at the front bumper

I saw some of those wheels on a different car a while back and wondered what they would look like in a zed. I think they work.
