  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

It was a nice sunny morning so I thought I'd take my Zed out of the garage for the first time in a month....

......The battery was flat, but no problem; I keep a "booster" battery in the garage, to help with such issues. So 2 minutes later and away I went!

I also thought it was about time to buy a new battery - the old one has been showing its age for the last 2 years - but could I find one over the counter? Well, yes, in theory; but in practice, no! Halfords (£85), Allparts (£72) and Euro Car Parts in High Wycombe all allegedly had one on their shelves..... However each one had the terminals round the wrong way - and there's no give in the cables to stretch and fit...

Looks like it will have to be a mail order jobby.....

....Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the drive - and will no doubt take the Zed if we head out for the day tomorrow. It's full of Shell's finest and ready to go....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Today I've done the resistor mod on the knock sensor. Got it plugged back in on the freeware consult and went looking for the fault code delete button. Realised the freeware version I have doesn't have a delete button!?! Grrr!!

So mod is done but still stuck in safe boost until I pick up the full consult version at the end of the month!

I've perfected the resistor connection though which is a plus. Made my own connector to keep it secure and tidy, all soldered and heat shrinked.

Now about to wash her to get rid of that nasty Road salt..

Time to get a little colder!

Then after that I'm laying on the ground for a while to fit my mates euro spec rear lights and wire in some new fogs and reverse lights on his celica.. All in all an eventful Japanese car repair day!

Oh and fitted the decals to the celica yesterday morning too.. It's looking good I think!DSC_0056.jpg

Nipped out to Halfords for a couple of bits (mainly cleaning stuff) anyway, on the way back got caught in the snow! I literally had to crawl home!

Got some good pics though!! :)

I've driven mine in a 6" deep drift. It coped suprisly well, it wasn't very fun though. And corner more than slight and it was neutral to avoid wheel spin and sideways.

Lucky bugger :P

I have always know that the two tabs were missing from my ashtray console bit and i have been looking for a while now for a replacement but of course it needed to be very near mint, this one of mine apart from this is in very good condition, even with the tabs missing it fit ok.

After ripping out so i can fit my new handbrake with new handbrake handle from Mondo, i spotted a pound coin and i chased it, it fell further inside the carpet, on doing this i found the two tabs.....win win methinks.

I have got out some resin and have bonded them back on, will they be strong enough ? not sure but i'm giving it a go - fit tomorrow ;).

You may also notice the 'not normal' black silicone, this is to bond the mirror control securely flush - this is all down to lighting it up.

The old scarab bumper is sold and gone, picking the new bumper up from the bodyshop tomorrow so pics to follow. Then I've just got to hope I like it! lol

Only time I saw Zed in snow was on Top Gear!!

I used to use my various previous zeds as everyday cars so my zeds saw the snow everyday it was here, sooooo much fun drifting all the way to work and back :)

Unveiled and attempted to start the Z after having been sitting since Monday. Got out for a drive eventually! Battery may be going on four years old so a new one may be in order.

Fitted my new battery......

......I had a chat with the guys at Euro Car Parts regarding their listing; and the terminals being the wrong way round. They did some investigating and came up with an Exide jobbie, same size and spec as the one they offered yesterday, but with the correct set-up. £68 with a 4 year guarantee - that'll do nicely!

I then had to re-program all the settings on my stereo/NAV unit.... Damn you Kenwood, can't you come up with something to save my pre-sets, EQ settings and NAV preferences....

Ordered three of the Hybrid Windscreen Wipers, as per Funkysi's and Gaz's recommendations:thumbup:

Was supposed to be working on my Z but my mate turned up with his celica and has damn near killed me over the last two days.. We got some euro spec tail lights for his celica and they turned out to be American spec!? Anyhow cos he liked the lights I spent Saturday from 6pm until 12:30 am fitting the lights and making new looms for the lights as the Americans use the red indicators.. Had to use the reverse bulb holes for indicators so had to chop the loom and the swap the bulb holders as the holes were different sizes.

We had bought the replacement led type reverse and fog lights and this morning I began installing the loom extensions to place the reverse and fog lights in the back grill of the cars bodykit. I started at 10am and just finished at 18:00.. Laying outside in the snow for 7 hours Saturday and 8 hours today, I believe my lower half may recover from the hypothermia sometime by next week!

It was a bad#+@d of a job but really pleased with the results.. Haven't took a photo yet cos my fingers wouldn't work the camera!

I am officially colder than I've ever been!

Such a cheesy joke pmsl

Recently I removed my Stroesk front bumper, as I will be fitting a new Twinz one, once I have done a few job in that area.

I bought some LED halos from Andy some time ago and fitted them to Carmads 99 spec inserts. Having split the headlights the other week, I also changed the plastic cogs for metal one, and set to sorting out the inserts. One problem with the Twinz bumper is that doesn't have any proviso for indicators, yes it has a ' side marker' on the side part of the bumper, but I wouldn't be happy leaving that as the only Amber flashing light. So after looking at mounting a subtle and invisible Amber light in the cluster, I still wasn't happy that it was noticeable enough for other road users to see the Amber light.

So I opted for this, which is noticeable when you look through the headlight lens but gives the best forward facing illumination.
