  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

  • These parts turned up from Specialty-Z today. Last significant items for the "bolt on" build. I'll post some more pictures of all the stuff I have collected over the years (literally!) in the "Project

  • Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Well then I'm confused. If it's the last part that's of interest as you say, why is 10W30 fine for normal environments but 5W30 isn't?

The chart shows 5W/30 is OK to use between -30C and +15C whist 10W/30 is OK between -20C and +40C. They have shown

the 10W30 in the same group as 10W/40 and 10W/50 which to me is pushing the upper limits of a 10W/30 oil in a VG30DETT

and to me makes that chart somewhat confusing.

I feel that Nissan was limited in the viscosity range (?W to /??) and performance of multigrade oils available circa '90. So they

are showing owners what was generally available at the time and their suitability in a range of conditions.

Since I have owned the car (18 years and 45K miles) I have allways used Mobil 1 5W/40 and more recently Mobil 1 0W/40 oils.

I don't use the car on the track and have had no problems with that grade of oil. The car doesn't use oil between changes.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

I spoke to mark Derby recently and was told that 30 oil was too thin. He recommended 10/40 fully synthetic.

I'll be using this on the next oil change!

Anyhow, I spent quite a few days making a new loom for the afterburner style light panels. I've installed the new centre pots and in about a day or so I should have the lights loom fully soldered and heat shrinked ready for installation.

Then it's time to completely disassemble again to get the light panels rubbed down and freshly painted in gloss black.

Once these have been finished it'll be rebuild and begin the wonderful job of removing the original rear lights and fitting up the 6 pot venoms..

I did the mirror backs a few weeks ago in the same dark grey as the headlight inserts, moustache and some parts in the engine bay but felt it didn't match so well further back on the car, so they are now black.

I also fixed the r/h one - it needed a little push to close but would open fine, it now works 100% of the time in or out......i swapped and did a bit of soldering on a motor from another i had.

Also made sure/tested both heated glasses got nice and warm.

I have done my spare wing indicators in the exact same, colour, brightness, etc, 4 x leds in each as my new ones i have now in the tail lights, just left tightly clamped up overnight for fitting tomorrow.

Once i receive something in the post i will be doing something similar with the red rear side marker lights but these will have a special feature and a very basic short loom was made today in anticipation .

Blimey phutumsch, no one is gonna miss those beauties lighting up are they! Lol.

I'm about to get my side markers lit too, once my firm finally pat my December wages I'll be getting the veilside rear bumper paid for and the original one is coming off to be refinished and painted again as it is starting to flake the paint by the rear arches.

Once it's off the car I'll have good access to run the wiring for the markers from the sidelights at the rear end.

I'm going to also try and adjust the veilside bumper to remove the square ends from the rear fins. I'm just hoping there's enough material there to round them off nicely as the only thing I don't like about it is the square bits.

Also waiting on my conzult lead and software to find out why my old girl is running a little lumpy.

Seems to bog down for a second as I'm accelerating? Like a mild misfire. Nothing tragic hopefully!

They are fit now and i am happy with brightness, look and the colour, all my indication matches pretty much perfectly all around.

Just on with these atm, yes there is an halo fitted.....no not by NISSAN in the factory.....by me in my humble garage !!!

Lots of likes guys thank you.......................oh go on then another pic !!!!! Just before the glass went on.

Sprayed the inserts black gloss/lacquered btw but kept the projector bezel the stock grey colour.

Nothing really to update on my Z other than the scarab bumper is coming off and my new front bumper is at the bodyshop getting painted. 99 spec with built in splitter, hope I can pull the look off with my car!

Been spending my spare time on my Pontiac, here's a before and after pic of how it's changed in the past couple of weeks!

I don't know much about Pontiacs but the older style front bumper does look better IMO, more "muscle car"

Nice work Baz:thumbup1: Did you change the whole front back to the windscreen??

Is your 99 Spec, the one you showed me with the integrated splitter?

Cheers mate yeah it's almost all new except the wings which are the original ones, it still needs some lining up and stuff but it's getting there

And yeah it's the 99 spec I showed you before, been umming and arring over it for ages and decided to bite the bullet!

Think that spoiler'd 99 spec will look great in a dark color (black / purple)

My rear tyres arrived this morning.. Bridgestone Potenza's 285/30/18's, just waiting on the Veilsides to be finished:thumbup:

Ive got a Carbon Fibre 99 Spec spoiler that's going on my White zed when I finally get round to getting it painted.

Its proper lush.

What will I do to my Zed tomorrow...?

I'll drive the bloody thing all the way to Bristol, taking Harby300 to pick up his Zed from Jimmer. And while I'm there, I'll have a solid prop fitted and get this dodgy starter motor swapped out for one that works! :thumbup1:

Gonna be a nice early start - I think we're leaving Kev's about 6.30am. So I should be suitably knackered (and half-deaf) by the time I get home again
