I have a 99 version S, it doesnt have the rear spoiler and my question to you guys is, would you add the 99 spec rear spoiler or would you leave it as it came from the factory?

Guys the OEM radio plugs on my car look like this which arnt the same as earlier cars or even my 95 car. As I'm looking for an OEM stereo and CD player which will more than likely come from an earlier car, is there any plug and play adapters that will fit these plugs to convert them to the older one? Also in the second pic, I noticed another plug thats taped up to the same loom, whats this plug for??

Midnight Purple is my favourite colour..

1997 fourth month Available to Buy....

You're going to have BIG problems here!!

They are the later type connectors used by Nissan from around that era, for models like the Micra etc here in the UK.

I'll check when i get home later, as I'm sure i have photos of a US double Din headunit and CD player assembly with those same connectors on (two separate units, not one full double din) I'll report back later on that.

Your other choice will be to find a UK spec Nissan, from that era that has a good looking headunit that you could substitute.

The only other option, and keeping with originality, would be to have something imported from japan, if you can find anything that is.

Thanks again Dave for the info. Would like to see the US units you mentioned as I'm sure finding something there will be easier than in Japan. Do you know of any other Nissan models that used a similar setup to the ZX?

Hi Baz,

Is that what it says in the pic I posted? or is that you taking a guess at what the color is? Machine Platinum sounds like it fits the bill!

Sorry I made it up  :whistling:

Thanks Dave for the photos! Would love to find out more on that 6CD changer and what head unit it would work with.

Richard thanks for the comments! Black car is now sold.

Your wish is my command...... ;)

This pic is the rear of a standard UK 300ZX radio/cassette, it shows two black sockets for DIN plugs to go into.

The one on the left is a five pin socket which a standard UK (and probably other market) single CD player would plug into, and on the right is a eight pin socket which both of those US CD players I've picture would fit into. It would appear the US head unit would only take a eight pin plug.

Very interesting Sudesh, I'm currently working on a 2000spec conversion project on my 1989 model and have been collecting parts for the past 3 years and I've been researching the 2000 models and have a lot of information regarding most things about them.

Your photos have given me more information on the audio setup on the later model Zs.

I do have one question. Ids the lower part of the rear bar, smooth? I only ask as I noticed the lower side body parts which are normally the rock guard parts on my 89 model yours are smooth. So jut wanted to know if that its the case for the rear bar as well.

if there is anything you would like to know about your Z as well let me know I have Nissan fast so can check your chassis number and get your cars specs up.

cheers

Adam

now that is clean..... but a little steep on the price ....over 90 photos BUT no pics of engine bay!!??

(yes I know it probably is worth it and it helps to keep the price of these up)...but....

Yeah as mentioned in another thread, I cant keep both Z's so decided to keep the TT Version S. As for price, well its open to sensible offers, the same car to import to the UK today will cost allot more! As for engine bay pic, no matter how well you do an add, there is always someone to find something wrong lol

Heres some of TT Version S and something else special to me. As mentioned the TT is pretty much the same, although it has the Turbo gauge, factory fitted stereo and Mini Disc player with spectrum anazlyer and my favourite bit, the factory fitted XENON headlights, only thing I have done to the TT was add the wider rears, thanks to a member here for the wheels.

Just got to do those wipers on both cars now.

I would genuinely take the 99spec over the nsx any day if the zed was lowerd with decent wheels. should get a spoiler on your TT

As big a fan of the ZX as I am, still would never choose it over the NSX, but for me they aint even in the same league so cant be compared.

I'm not a big fan of non OEM wheels on the Z, and on this car, I think its best left in OEM form. If I ever went down the aftermarket route, for me the best conversion/looks is Strosek.
