General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Suddenly I cant see any posts on any forums! After the 16th, even though I posted on the general forum today. Is it my pc or is there a problem?

Hi guys and welcome to another dreary rainy weekend. Went to start my Zed after 1 month of not driving it to find that the battery has gone completely flat. I've had car's before that start first time even after a prolonged absence of starting them and they've all started first time and never has the battery gone COMPLETELY FLAT. The only thing I can think of is that the Thatcham alarm drains the battery big time. Is this normal??? What else could be draining it?? Has anyone else experience this after a prolonged absence of using their Zed? Cheers, PS- only 2 weeks to the meetup.

Hi All, Following an aging G reg Sierra Saphire down some country lanes. This car was doing the usual Ford thing of chucking out tonnes of blue smoke as soon as the driver hits the gas. At an opportune moment I overtake, indicating and giving loadsa room. Once past the guy in the sierra must of booted it (as more smoke appeared) and came after me. He prooved his point about me overtaking by tale-gating me and then giving up as I found a clear spot and showed him what a Z does when you put your foot down. Even after compairing pipe layout with Lack300's Z yesterday, mine are all over the place, no real similarity at all. Same pipes different connections!! Or is there a differance between uk & import? Both of us were a bit puzzled. It seems things are blowing instead of sucking - no pun intended- honest ;-0 This must have been when a new lump was fitted sep/99. Perhaps on the 1st April I can be advised/overseen on a pipe swap around. Or any other ideas welcome.

Just got pulled for doing 112mph on the M40..Two cops in an unmarked Honda! with video camera caught me as I turned off the motorway. They said my average speed was 112.45mph over 1.8 miles and reckoned I was braking during this time, so I must have been doing over 120mph. What sort of ban am I likely to get, and how much of a fine? My licence was clean for the last few years...until now. JEZ

I'm in the process of dismantling a G reg 300ZX Twin Turbo 2+2. Its an auto and an import. I'm dismantling it due to the relatively poor paintwork, a noisy diff and an engine oil leak which will probably be easily rectified now the engine is coming out. Also, I've spent a fortune on new parts which will hopefully be worth a fair amount. Nearly all parts are now available. The many new parts include a gearbox that cost me £1700 only 5000 miles ago, new standard exhaust, new shocks, gearbox mounting, engine mounting, cat 1 alarm system (with remote central locking) etc etc. I live near Rochester in Kent (15 mins from M25 at Dartford). I just got some abuse off a car full of young asian lads who pulled up and started calling me a poser etc. They were in a white Nova with loads of chrome and a hideous body kit with blue underlighting and I'd watched them doing laps round town! They were not happy when I got out and emptied the remains of my kebab on their bonnet... The cheeky bastards even tried to keep up with me as I left the scene! LOL

Hi Peeps, I am now on the verge of getting my AVC type R 8-). What benefits does the AFC have. TT net talks about it a bit. I have just had SE Chip upgrade which has released my engine from it's restrictive standard ECU 8-) I understand that the AFC basically frigs sensor readings to the ECU so you can manage your air/fuel mixture. Is this device of some use or am I better off re-programming the e-prom in my ECU for better performance?? Ta Eddie ;-)

Being pretty new to all this I could do with a little advice. The two back boxes on my 300TT (jap/2 seater) have developed large holes. Would I be able to fit a Magnex?, are there other options. all replies appriciated.

This has already been explained on TT.Net but I can't reiterate it enough. I have had bad vibrations for a long time now. You can hear and feel it coming from the centre console area. Do not assume that it's the prop shaft! I have had the tranny mount replaced and ALL vibrations from that area have disappeared even though my prop looks as though it needs sorting. A guy in the US replaced his prop and experienced the same vibrations fairly soon after. The vibrations disappeared when he replace the tranny mount. I would guess that the tranny drops and alters the geometry slightly. I have an auto tranny. I Don't know if its the same with a manual but I would have…

I've been reading a few past posts and some Zeds have the adjustable shocks. Were they standard on all Zeds??? (mines a 91 TT import) I don't think mine are adjustable, if you have these fitted how do you adjust them? Is there a button fitted in the cockpit for sports/comfort??? THANKS IN ADVANCE.....
