  1. Anyone else seen this. Opinion appears to be that I need a new Crank Angle Sensor but, at £425.35, I don't want to do this if it isn't going to cure my problem. It's been to Middlehurst Nissan who can't bring up any faults on their equipment. Let me give you a description... Driving along on the motorway when the engine will suddenly die as if it has been switched off. You can floor the throttle to your heart's content or wiggle it about, the car will not come back to life. The only way to restore power is to back off the throttle for at least one second, then reapply it. All is then fine. Backing off the throttle for less than this does not cure the problem. I …

Does it help? I have read other places that if you take it off and upgrade the suspension it will make the car grip better, but will be harder to drive around town. Turning circle 2 postcodes wide. I am asking this becuase my Z has had the 4 wheel steering removed. It has been done correctly. I saw the bill from APB which I hear is a good garage. No cost was spared because it cost £1400 to have it done. What do you guys think? Dodgy? Stuart

Hey guys, over at the Australian 300ZX Owners Assoc website some changes have been made. Couple of new sections and magazine articles, ads, etc. but we need your help for the photo database section. The premise is to have photo's of every square centimeter of the car to aid with tech explanations or people looking for that hidden bolt while crammed under a Z in their driveway. If you can help out at all please let me know, as you can see the section's still in it's early stages. Anyway, the website is http://www.aus300zx.com, any help would be appreciated Regards, Ben (aka Blipman) blipman@yoyo.cc.monash.edu.au Hey I like these little icon…

There i was, happily sitting in the beer garden at the pub when i heard a bang. I though nothing of it until someone shouted 'rob, someones just hit your car!' I don't think i've ever moved so fast in my life!! A woman had reversed into my lovely Z. Luckily she's only smashed my indicator/sidelight, and the one next to it which does nothing, and scuffed my bumper. She is getting my the new lenses, but the question is, do i get her to pay for a respray on my bumper? I normally wouldn't, as it's covered in stone chips anyway, but she didn't even say sorry!! Hell, she didn't even get out of the car! This really wound me up. I got her No. and she works in the pub anyway so …

GuyZ, You're never going to believe what I'm about to enlighten you about, but this is not a wind-up!!! Just been reading about SPECCS system on that website I posted up earlier. The guy who runs the site is the leading authority on speed detection systems in the UK, and has been round Europe also checking out other systems in use. Anyway, check this, SPECCS cannot catch speeding bikers...FACT! At the time the system starts being rolled out only four wheeled vehicles will be vulnerable. SPECCS takes a photo of the front of the speeding car/truck etc. Bikes don't have number plates on the front! Apparently car drivers are being victimized with this syst…

Well, unless someone robs the Isle of Wight branch of Barclays in the morning, by this time tomorrow I should be the proud owner of a Manual TT. It's quite nice, there is a picture of it in the rides section under ChrisF. ;-) Glen. Chris mate, if you do read this, top geezer and see ya tomorrow!

Knowing how a Z likes to eat rear tyres I watch out for prices. In recent Autocar there is a co called "The Tyre Company" surprise surprise in Nottingham - has some apparently excellent prices. stock wheel 245 45/16 SO2 @£132ea and for 18s 265 35/18s from £99 for Falkens prices inc VAT and delivery but not fitting. Any comments guys? I think my 1cm of rear toe in is now cured so might invest in new ones before the current ones turn to slicks. Willie

Hope this is of some use to you guyZ, this is one of the better sites that I've found... http://www.abd.org.uk/cameras/map.htm Also check this site out, coppers reckon that radar and laser detectors are near useless, and that by the time they go off you've more than likely been clocked anyway! http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk Enjoy! Was sent this link from one of the MR2 boys. Some useful info regarding O2 sensors (there is also a little in the Z service manual) and prices for sensors that may be possible replacements for those on a Z, probably cheaper than from Nelson - at least in the UK. Interesting to see that they wear out like spark plugs ... Prices: http://www.mobiletuning.carnuts.co.uk/items_for_sale_page%20.htm Tech Info: http://www.mobiletuning.carnuts.co.uk/oxygen.htm

I`ve recently been bitten by the 300zx bug after simply seeing the huge wedge of a beast roll past me in all it`s steroid and adrenalin induced malevolence.I`m self employed so a bit restricted in which financer i use.So i`m seeking out dealers who use the financer i`m already with to save me account headaches.Anyway today i stumbled across a local Jap import specialist with a number of interesting motors.Including YES you`ve guessed it,a red 1990 G reg,70,000 miles,r/hand drive,UK ready zx300,huge spoiler and lovely alloys(which will save me getting any) for£5995. Providing my financer will finance fully a 10 year old car(they should seeing as it is a car that i`d imag…

Skewing the 'Speed camera/safety' thread away from the Police and towards Insurance companies, I call my learned friend Andy P, who wisely said: "Stopping distances are reduced by f-off brakes, fat sticky tyres and grippy road surfaces." So why the crackers do Insurance companies LOAD your premium if you got em??? I was quoted £564 for stock TT rising to £904 for Import TT, mention wheels, suspension mods and exhaust and it goes up to £1700. Perhaps I'm going a bit funny after all the drugs I did in the 60's but surely big brakes, suspension handling kits and fat tyres make a car safer. I think I'll buy a sensible car Tim, perhaps you would join me…
