General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Just got me thinking... now with having the saab (one), and the 300 (another 2). And one of my 300 turbos has a leaky seal.. not bad, but will need fixing next year. So why are there only two companies making turbos (garret and mitusbishi) ? And why do they cost so much ? It's only a bloody fan is a cast bit of metal for godsake ? Has anyone found a really cheap source for T25s ? stu

A bulb has got on the so called driving lights (if you call those small round things lights), anyway what is quickly obtainable to replace it (well them, may as well match) and if possible would like brighter ones - to me the bulb looks like those nhs milk bottle type glasses! Cheers Robb

Crashed my 200sx today, bugger. It will put into perspective what I can have done on my 300 now. Just driving along and decided to overtake a few cars when for some bizarre reason I lost it. The car span for a while then slid onto a grass verge, hit a tree and spun a bit more then rested nicely on the verge. My head seemed to cushion most of the impact so I am ok, just lept out of the car to let all know that I was alright. Fortunatly no one else was invloved apart from the tree. Got into a heated debate at work today about whether the Z is a supercar or not. Obviously I said that it is, but my mate said it's not 'cos it didn't cost over 100 grand or something like that. I was just wondering, what do you think the criteria is for a car to be a supercar? Cheers Rob.

All of the coilpack connectors on my (1989 TT import)Z are badly cracked or broken and its started misfiring a bit rough now. Nissan quoted me megabucks for the wiring loom which includes these connectors. Does anyone know of an alternative source of these connectors so I can replace them myself? Paul B

Just had a trip in my mates new M Coupe. Very impressive performance and it's the very first time I've been truly amazed by stopping power. Shiiiite but the brakes are good. I wish the ZX's were just half as good. Ugly little bugger but theres something very appealing about the Coupe. I think it would actually leave most Zeds for dead! Not my Caterham though!!!! Simon

Hey all Put the straight through 2.5" stainless system on the 300zx TT and had the cats taken out. Problem is i left the car for a while and they binned the CAT sensors and cut the wires to them because i hadnt left instructions with them of what to do?!! FU**WITS Anyways went to Nissan to try and find a new pair of 02 sensors and they supplied me a pair that looked nothing like the ones that were on the car!!! they supplied the ones that are supposed to be on uk and Jap spec models (after taking my chasis no) and they arent the ones. mine have two wires on each 02 sensor and the ones they supplied have three wires on each. wouldnt mind cutting and joining b…

Just making sure, white smoke would mean there's either a radiator hose loose, or a head gasket going bad right?

Ok if any of you guys want to remove your cats and replace them with straight through pipes. (i suspect jp imports really as they have no precats) They will do them for £100.00 That is it. and i must say waht a difference this has made to my car. It just feels so much better you wont believe.

Hi! My car is coming up to 57000 miles and I really need to get the cambelt changed. Does anyone from around here know of a good garage that will do it? I'm trying to avoid the cost of a main dealer as I've just sheled out £400 for a clucth.

I had a new clutch fitted esterday, the old one was slipping like crazy. The guy recommended that I had the flywheel skimmed as I had a slight judder when pulling off in 1st. Only cost an extra £40 and the difference is fantastic - feels like a new car again. Anyone else had to have this done with a new clutch. Also how much is a reasonable price - I paid £400 all in, for a 3 piece with 2 year warranty.

Noticed my Zed has been a bit underpowered over the last week or so. So went under the bonnet last night and found a very small pipe had come off under the RH side throttle body pipe at the top. Put it back on and F**K ME what a difference!!!!. What is this crappy little pipe and what does it do???. Just trying to gain some knowledge guys (you don't realise how many pipes there are on these thing until you start looking for one that may have come off!!) Cheerz Simon H 1
