General Discussions - 300ZX Related

The subject of bigger brakes often crops up and with 350Z and GTR set ups not exactly cheap and AP,Alcon,Brembo etc etc big brake kits costing around 1.5K plus VAT, not many can afford them. So i've been looking and investigating and come up with some options, am not looking for deffo's or anything like that, just an expression of interest as to which option you would prefer. There is a development cost to me on either option and thats on the 1st kit, after being stung for a grand on the N/A headers, I just want more feedback first from you guys. These will fit approx 90% of 17" wheels and all 18" wheels and they would be Z32 specific fitment. Wilwood 6 pot caliper…

do you guys reckon a wheel re-furbisher could sort my exhuast, been like this since i bought my car, thinkin of tryin to get it sorted after chrimbo, any ideas! cheers si

What petrol do oyu choose to put in your Z? Ive heard opitmax used to be good and that V-Power is shit?

as above i need to strip my zed ASAP i would like the enginge box and suspension out all together as the car is scrap doesn't matter what i do to get it out just the quickest

ive done a search for zs with aftermarket wheels and havent found many wheels with dishes that i can sleep in lol i personaly like a wheel with a big dish in a stagerd form ie rear wider with out doing much arch work,when posring could you please state brand name and model offset and size and width thanks in advance

ive just started the zed up for the first time in months, cause shes just been fixed because of my alternater bein reconned. She hasnt been started since the beginning of october and the tapets seem really noisey. So beg for any advice does anyone know how to quiet them down or how much to get them replaced :( thanks for your help and advice guys

my mate doesnt have net access and he asked me to post a thread regarding his problem has just bought his 1992 tt short wheel base auto he has had it for a week ill get to the point we went to a petrol station we filled it up with £20 optimax took it for a run went to parked it up i opend the passengers door and there was a strong smell of petrol didnt think much of it then he went out half hour later and rang me up he said when he gives it a kick down and boots it then takes his foot of the gas the reves come back down then cutts out and when he trys to keep it running it sounds like its starving for petrol is this a common problem what is going on

Are these easy to remove and if so, how is it done? Got a faulty door lock that need looking at and the a rattle coming from the door near the speaker, i think the plastic mounting ring may have broken or a screw orclip may have come out. Doesnt sound like the speaker has blown. Any adivice on taking door panel off would be much appreciated. Thanks peeps !

Pulled the (already polished) plenum to change injectors & lower intake to helicoil a thread. Gonna powdercoat the turbo hard pipes & cam covers, anything else worth doing at the same time?

These shock cover boot thingys....where can I get some from? I did a search on here and someone had said Halfords do a universal one, I went to 2 of their stores today, one said they didn't do them the other one looked like he wasn't quite sure what a shock absorber was! Went to Nissan, they want over £60 for the 2 but can't guarantee they will be here before Christmas, I've already had the car on axle stands over 2 weeks waiting for my Bilstein shocks to turn up from Germany. That can't be doing the car much good I've searched the internet and there seems to be loads in the US and Australia, but I want them NOW

I am in the process of removing the engine from my TT auto. The engine has seized so I am unable to turn it over to remove the bolts from the torque converter so does anyone know if it's possible to pull the engine out with the torque converter still bolted to the flywheel? Cheers, Jason.

anyone know the normally ride hight for the Z. mines is stupidly low about max 1" off the deck! what lowing springs do people recommend as im fitting a new frount bumper which is lower anyway and dont want the paint scraped! cheers jared

Hi every1! i'm having a straight through stainless steel exhaust made from the manifolds to the back boxes, looking under the car today i noticed a pipe coming off each each side of the front pipes and travelling up into the gearbox area? anyone know what these 2 pipes are for? also is it ok to just disconnect the cat wires? help most appreciated.... :xxx: :bow:

Hiya people can anyone recomend which brakes to go for on my z32?? as you all probably know, the 300zx is an awsome car but the only thing it has problems with is stopping. although the disks are pretty monsterous, it is a heavy car to stop!! Im thinking of getting some 6 pot calipers and even bigger disks so does anyone know which ones to go for or the best place to get them from?? Im off to the nurburgring in march and need to get them sorted by then really. cheers guys. :p

DO not buy from a guy on here calling himself EXTREM_IMPORTS . He ripped me off with my leather seats. Paid for it via paypal and when they came didnt have complete , So i am stuck , He said that he did send it but must have got lost in transit (DHL) . But the slip says 3 items which i got .... i'm crying as i write this. is was in the zed today going to the torque-power christmas party when i discided to over take a car as i went to over take the back end came loose i hit ice and i hit a metal post zed is well fooked i had my girlfriend and little girl in the car this is the worst thing thats happened to my and i feel like shit evryone was ok thats the main thing but to add insult to injury i was on TPFT so i get nothing for my zed :cry:

In the 6mths that I had my zed whilst living up here I didn't see one other. Seems like the last few weeks I've been seeing them every day. There's a blue one, a purple one, a couple of black ones, Whats going on?

I start up my zed from cold in the mornings and it smokes blue ish from the exhaust for about 2 mins before stopping, i'm not saying smoke cloud level, but enough to see from inside the car through the rear view mirror. Its a n\a with 72 thousand on the clock and i've always changed the oil every 2000 miles since i've had her, but the last oil change i put in vw audi's oil and not the usual castrol, could this have some effect on the valve stem seals etc ? :(

How do I do the above, taking into consideration I run on a short fuse :smash: :smash: :smash: should I get someone else to do it :)
