So yesterday I did a compression test. I found a guide on here and followed it to the letter and this is what I got: Cylinder 1 = 70 (drivers side front) Cylinder 2 = 65 (drivers side middle) Cylinder 3 = 50 (drivers side back - closest to cabin) Cylinder 4 = 10 (pass side front) Cylinder 5 = 25 (pass side middle) Cylinder 6 = 0 (pass side back) We were confused about this because a TT should be 171PSI with a tolerence of 10% (14-ish psi), so we checked my Black NA: Cylinder 1 = 100 (drivers side front) Cylinder 2 = 100 (drivers side middle) Cylinder 3 = 99 (drivers side back - closest to cabin) Cylinder 4 = 100 (pass side front) Cylinde…

Now don't rip me too much, but whilst driving my auto today, I noticed a rocker switch above the P by the gearstick with A/T on it, what's it for? Does it fire up the warp drive if I press it ? Or eject my passenger seat? No clue what this is for? BTW it's my first auto and first 300zx, and I have only had it a day :-)

Would like to either replace or restore the following, any advice welcome. Firstly, the window seal. Appears to have been hacked at some point, possible attempted theft in the past~? I'd like it replaced, maybe both sides to match? Then there are the roof seals, is there anything I can do about these or would this require replacing to? The T top rubber has seen better days... And lastly the front bonnet vent, seen here, has been snapped.

Ok, I must get this car sorted out, due to family problems and me buying a project Z31 Turbo, my Zed has been confined to my garage for the past eighteen months  It has always lost a lot of water (when it was running) with no obvious leaks apparent, time for a water pipe bypass - I guess. I'm quite happy to do mechanical jobs but haven't ever looked at pulling the plenum............ Any help, advice and/or hints, tips or warnings would be very welcome  Thanks in advance - Andy

The 2nd annual Doug Memorial cruise was without a doubt another great cruise event with lots of driving and socialising for all the members who attended on the day. It has become one of those events I believe every Victorian Z owner should attend and be apart of, but not just for the memorial of a fellow Z owner who has past away, but because it is becoming one of the fastest growing iconic Z cruises I seen since my First GOR cruise in 2007. Anyways enough talking onto the photos. I tried to keep them to a minimum this event, as sometimes too much can ruin the overall presentation of a good thread post. Starting meet point If your wonderin…

I've just refurbed my headlights, and i'm now beginning to notice moisture forming on the inside of the headlight glass while the lights are on. this disappears within a few hours after turning headlights off, I put extra silica gel bags inside the headlights along with the original silica tablets when I reassembled the lights. i'm thinking the worse and it could be the seal around the glass maybe? although I did make sure this was heated and a good amount of seal oozed to the glass edge. i'm running HID's but the problem is also there with standard h3c lamps in.

Thought I would share this article published in Performance Car magazine back in April '91 which compared the 300ZX against the Honda NSX and Porsche 911 (as front, mid and rear engined cars respectively). The magazine cover used the "Supercar Showdown" title for the three cars. The "final frontier" section made me smile with the 300ZX getting Gawp Factor 5 plus! Hope you enjoy the read.

Hey guys, can someone clarify that when the 'CLOSED THROTTLE' module is selected we're looking for the reading to be '1', same as a multimeter to show continuity? Pretty sure my TPS is rooted as I can't get 0.4-0.5v when throttle is closed. Presuming it's a 1 for closed?

I know this is a polarising mod but I am fitting a NA rear end to my car. A lot of the appeal is the opportunity to hammerite and re bush the back end with it on the floor, not on the car. The gearing thing is a nice extra for me, but the weight saving should be great. I already have the back end, I would like some advice and guidance for the other bits I'll need. I will get my one piece prop modified to fit. I think I will get upper camber arms but keep all the others stock. I don't want to ruin my NVH and shake my teeth out. So which bushes should I go for? I am happy to just loop the PS back to the TT resivoir. New wheel bearings too…

To start with, I'd like to say that this is only about the standard Sumitomo calipers, not Brembo upgrades or anything like that :) Anyway, I have a set of alloy calipers on my Zed at the moment and a set of cast iron calipers that I bought to refurb. I think right in saying that the alloy ones have the "ribs" around the piston mounds on the outside, whereas the iron ones don't have these... is that right? Which are the better (or more preferred) calipers? I seem to recall there was some issue with warping with the alloy ones, or is that a bit of a myth? So, which set of calipers am I going to be better off refurbing - alloy or cast iron? :)

Car is now off the road till the weather improves in March/April. I'm no mechanic but do like to play around and sort what I can. I hate how cluttered the Zed engine bay is know guys delete certain things. Just now I'm trying to get the air regulator off and it's just a pain, so would like to delete what I can to make things less cluttered and easier to access. What would you recommend deleting guys?

So, my Zed is going in for a respray early next year. I still want it red, maybe a little more of a vibrant shade but the thing I can't decide on is whether to have the moustache sprayed black/dark grey or whether to leave it off as it already is. Any preferance guys?

Speedo stopped working and power steering got heavy. removed clocks and re-soldered all connections on the speedo PCB replaced clocks - still no joy fitted secondhand set of clocks - still no joy fitted new VSS - still no joy so, now I have two sets of clocks and a spare VSS. Checked old VSS with multimeter and it's OK To eliminate this problem being the clocks, is there any way I can connect the VSS directly to the clocks whilst out of the car and if so what colour wires do I connect from the VSS to the speedo mylar sh…

I know we spoke of this Z before (silly location of the fog light) but looking at it again it has a few extras that the seller has missed or he just knows very little about these cars. It has a very nice Nardi steering wheel and take a close look at the rear side windows. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-cars/nissan/300/used-nissan-300-peterlee-fpa-201510077577674?logcode=p
