Why when i read different reviews in different books and magazines they all seem to have contradictory information as regards the the performance figures of the 300zx...some say they have 276bhp and some say 300bhp, some say 0-60 is 5.6 and others say 5.2 some say a top speed of 149 and others 156... whats this all about?

Hello everyone, Times are getting better for me as after the Z being sitting in the garage with a blown engine since Feb last year, I have managed to get the funds and all requirements together to put another good engine in it. Dropped the Z off to the garage to get on with it yesterday and found out today that the reason the older engine blew was because my twin HKS intercooler was blocked. What I wanted to know was, what procedures do I get carried out regarding the cooler in order for it to be fine?? and do they blow and if yes can they be reconditioned or is it better to just buy a new one?? Any suggestions regarding a blocked intercooler that blew an engine w…

Ok i dont wanna seem as though im being fussy or searching for problems but check out this video: heres another video: ignore the whining noise thats just amplified for some reason, its that on and off rattle you can hear and its constant if kept at about 2000rpm. I removed the vvt connectors to see if the noise went buit it didnt. Not really the kinda thing i need right now. only noticable at 2000rpm Sounds as though its coming from the front left cambelt region and you can feel it if you put your hand on the cover. I have a recipt for a new tensioner vvt springs (the lot) except idler pulleys but would these make that kinda noise? sound…

I heard this and wasn't sure if it was true. If you have a Standalone or a custom map ecu the fuel economy would be better than a stock 300 even on highly modified 300's as you can have a low boost setting. I realise when you put your foot down though it completely goes out the window and would use loads loads more but if it was to be driven at a steady pace would it be better on fuel? I think there could be some truth in this for several reasons. 1. lower boost setting than stock. 2. custom map made percific for your excat car not just generic off the shelf. 3. More effiecient. Just a thought as with the fuel crisis getting your chip mappe…

Wonder if anybody could shed light in these 2. 1. When my car hits approx 1,500 rpm befire red line, its a little stuttery and you can hear the exhaust popping. I think its maybe related to the fact that no matter what I do I cant get the Temp Needle on the 1/2 Mark. I put some of this down to the fact I ripped out aircon and have a Koyo Rad, but as the little hoses at the rear of the engine leak a little once you switch the engine off, even if you dont use the hearter/air. I guess the Thermostat is stuck open? Car doesnt seem to be drinking fuel, but it was mentioned at the recent meet by a car somwhere along our convoy, that somebody was deffo runing rich, me p…

Guys, I know ive spoken to a few already about this, but im still not sure. The kit that has been fitted is: RPS Street Max clutch Z1 Flywheel New release bearing, uprated pivot ball and pilot bushing Stainless Steel braided clutch line Work that has been done so far by the garage: All the bits fitted, Clutch system bled for a good 3 hours The adjustment on the clutch pedal box has been "pushed in" to its furthest point. The symptoms are: Heavier than usual clutch pedal (espec for the RPS) with No spongeyness Very difficult to get into gear When i do get it into gear, the biting point is virtually in the carpet. Slave cyl…

Im assuming there should be a boot switch somewhere, coz I know theres a boot light, so questions are 1 Where is the switch (anyone got a picture??) 2 Would the lack of a switch cause my 'door open' light on the dash to remain on 3 Im assuming if 2 above is 'yes' then should there be more than just a wire from the switch to the light, for example a relay 4 Im also assuming if 2 is 'yes' thats why my alarm system is malfunctioning. Any answers would be really appreciative, preferably with any pics to help. be aware that as an auto electrician I make a good joiner!!
