Hi guys, I'm hoping to do a fluid change to try and fix a problem I'm having with the gears changing by themselves. I've had a search on here but can't seem to find any recommendations for the type of fluid or oil  to use? I've had a squiz over on opie oils as well but can't seem to figure out what I need! Any help would be great and hopefully I can find the product asap too!

Hi all, Last new thread for me today (promise!). Had a problem with a stuck injector causing a hydrolock in one cylinder, enough to stop the engine from turning. Just wondering if this could have caused the cam belt to slip a tooth? Not even sure if it's possible to slip a tooth!? The timing seems to go 'out' for no apparent reason, I set it correctly (not using the loop on the PTU!), check it again at a later date and find it 10 or more degrees out! Could this be a CAS problem? Any other possible causes? Engine temperature sensor appears to be working correctly. This problem first happened to me quite some time ago when the car was otherwise running well, timin…

Should the AVC-r solenoid valve run at 0% duty cycle until it hits positive boost? My engine is running badly, very little chance of hitting +ve boost so I can't actually test it. I've taken the stock boost solenoids out and am running lines directly from the wastegate actuators to the COM side of the solenoid and from the intake hardpipes to the NO side. I can't help feeling this is too simplistic and another pair of vacuum lines is needed somewhere - has anyone else set up successfully this way? Any help appreciated. Cheers RobH

Hi All, Still having over rich problems (amongst others) on my recently rebuilt TT. It runs extremely poorly and is not really usable. I've noticed an anomally, or at least i suspect it is, checking injector duty cycle on the AVC-r, it shows as 90%+ at idle and drops with throttle applied. Is this as expected? Seems to be completely the reverse of what should happen and makes me suspect a crossed connection or short somewhere. I double checked with consult and sure enough the injector time drops as throttle is applied. Whether this is not the case when the engine is under load I haven't been able to test (not really driveable). Can anyone check on thei…

I've been doing some more work to my Zed today. Firstly i've given in and fitted myself some 99-spec replicas, and i've gotta say it looks superb! I've also fitted a glow up centre panel, i know its a bit of a love hate thing, but i bloody love it!!! (and yes i know only two back lights are working, but i'm missing a bulb holder! Which i'm going to source asap). Also i've fitted a new rear number plate.........that is the correct size!!! And yes i still have'nt cleaned the car, lol! Also i've chucked in a snap shot of my engine bay so far......... :D

just a couple of pics. nice view of my brakes and engine bay. front bumper is a mess and ive photoshopped a black centre strip which is how il be painting it soon enough. got a few extra engine bay enhancements on thier way too. apart from my running issues im quite happy with the look so far. regarding the rear offset im looking into bigger spacers and a slightly thinner profile tyre maybe stretched to sit right under the arch which will have to be rolled how i like it. but its not so bad at the mo anyhow. Also looking into 25mm hubcentric spacers for the front Thought by posting a couple pics it would bring my moral back up seen as im having …

Wooohoooo just got my zed back, running sweet again :D And i took it for its MOT, passed no probs with one exception, the two front tyres. Anyway i rufurbed a set of 18" wheels a while ago and i have been waiting to put them on, so i did do and i think they look superb!!! :D They come right out and fill the arches, i did'nt think stuff like that made such a difference, but it looks a thousand times better when they fill the arches :D Anyway take a look - (cars fookin filthy BTW) Oh and check out these bad boys to go under them -

Hi, everyone I'm looking for a pair of aftermarket dumpvalves for my Z, I've got all the pipes and other stuff so I only need the valves. A blocker was placed instead of a valve in the valve pipes when the new turbos were fitted so I need to get some dumpvalves now. Thanks

Guys... First of all, great forum, loads of great advice on here... Now before I get too enthusiastic over my purchase of a ZX ive just looked at.. Basicly I went to see a 1990 TT Auto thats been sat for nearly a year since its last MoT and respray last october. The guy who isnt at all a jap car enthusiast says he's done only 50miles in the car and has been put away in a garage all year doing regular start ups etc. He's got work, g/f and future kid commitments so it was going dirt cheap. The car is in good shape. He took me out for a 10 minute run but didnt floor it too hard as its been sat. We parked up, I let the car idle for 10mins looking out for …

Hi All, I am currently having similar problems to "Bird" on the forum about what to do and who to tune my car once it is completed. After speaking to Dan (dta) he has explained that it will be impossible to supply me with a chip to run in my car in the early stages of running the engine in as I have JWT 400+ race cams. I am going for a stand alone ECU which I am undecided on at the moment. I am very unsure what to do as without having an ECU already mapped to run my mods, how can I run it in to iron out the problems before it is mapped properly?? I understand if i dont have the right ECU it is unwise to try and start the car. Otherwise taking it to…

what would be the consequences, if any, of having one or two very small thin bits of paper stuck on the inside of your air filter if they were to be sucked loose and into the intake? would they clog something up and b0ll0cks the engine or just burn up safely?
