I recently acquired a gauge part from the 2000spec instrument cluster and as i execpted when i compared the new part with a part from a 90 model cluster there was a big difference with the mounting screws making replacment impossible. I was expecting this outcome and have always planned to swap the face plates over so i can use my original cluster if i needed to. Now ive read a few threads about how different the 94+ cluster is compared to the 89 cluster. Ive been checking on Nissan fast (offical nissan spare parts program) and it seems nissan changed the cluster design in 92 (by what nissan fast is showing me) I can see the difference of the 2 clusters but what i wa…

Tweaky fitted my new WW front bumper tonight, did a great job but there is still one thing I need to sort out, purely because its fibreglass the fit is never 100% The fog lamps have a gap of approx 1 cm where the fibreglass bumper doesnt sit flush. What can I do to make it look better? And if I remove them, what are my options for the hole?

Tweaky came over from Derby tonight to help remove my stock bumper and fit my new WW fibreglass one! He was an absolute legend, stayed from 5:30 until 9:00 even working through the dark with his car lights on! Above and beyond mate, and you did a cracking job, even in the face of adversity lol with it being fibreglass. A couple of small jobs left to do, but all in all, TOP JOB and a TOP MAN! Tweaky, will give you a bell in a couple of days, and hope your missus wasnt to peed off, mine was awful quiet when I got in :x:

got a day off work today so i thought i'd drive over to Thurnby and visit the bodyshop who did a darn good job of painting and repairing my poorly Z and fitting the bodykit, as i have a new kit all stacked up ready to go. got there and no answer, spoke to a couple of businesses either side (a garage and a car dealership) and they both tell me he's not been to his shop for over a month. one tells me the rumour is he's moved into town and started a new bodyshop. thankfully ive managed to dig out his email so ive emailed him and asked him whats going on. so feeling a little dejected i got into my car and drove to the alloy wheel place down the road to me with the intention…

I've got a Z at last  - I'm not posting pikkies yet as I don't pick her up (the Z that is :D) until Sunday. However, it has (the wife that is...errr, no, that's wrong) original Nissans that have been powder coated black. Nasty. SO first thing I want to do is change 'em. The car is silver, 96 TT SWB, so please can you kind ladies and gents suggest some nice wheels for my new baby ? Thanks

Hi, Just a couple of things I want/need to know. As I'm disputing the quality of work done on my respray, do the garage have a legal obligation to keep my car safe and secure untill it's resolved? When a bodyshop paints a car, after the paint has dried do they normally polish and wax the paint? If parts are missing or broken, do they have a duty to supply new parts or can they just give you secondhand ones? Sure there's more but my mind has gone blank will all this crap :( Vijay

Great News, We had a long chat with John Fuggles (Principle JAE Organizer) on our stand last weekend. and he informed us that 2009 will see a new event...JAE NORTH. This will be a new and separate event at a location TBC in the north west. and it is in NO way an alternative event to the main JAE, just another event by the same organizers to accommodate the Northern car clubs. Our club will have a stand at Both events next year, and when I have more info, such as Location/date etc, I will post up so watch this space. :) Regards Kim

Are synthetics better? The basic benefits are as follows: Extended oil drain periods Better wear protection and therefore extended engine life Most synthetics give better MPG They flow better when cold and are more thermally stable when hot Esters are surface-active meaning a thin layer of oil on the surfaces at all times If you want to know the reasons why then please read on but, warning - Long Post! Stable Basestocks Synthetic oils are designed from pure, uniform synthetic basestocks, they contain no contaminants or unstable molecules which are prone to thermal and oxidative break down. Because of their uniform molecular stru…

We are often asked why don’t you do an article on Gear Oils? Well, an article would be very complex but here are the answers to a few FAQ’s that we have had over the years. What does API GL mean? API stands for American Petroleum Industry and GL stands for Gear Lubricant, see below for their definitions: API GL-1 Straight mineral oil API GL-2 Mild EP for worm gears API GL-3 Mild EP for spur and spiral bevel gears in axles and transmissions API GL-4 Medium EP, MIL-L-2105 quality, moderate severity hypoid gears, manual transmissions API GL-5 High EP, MIL-L-2105D quality, all hypoid axles, some manual transmissions API GL-6 Extra high EP, now …

-Audi has disclosed the first details of its all-new supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. It will be called TFSI in which the T no longer stands for turbocharged; the FSI is Audi's usual moniker for direct-injection (fuel stratified injection). - This is not the first time Audi has used a supercharger, also known commonly in Germany as Kompressor, as in the case of Mercedes-Benz. In the 1930s, the 12- and 16-cylinder engines of the Audi's Grand Prix racecars built by Auto Union were supercharged. - Since the 1970s, Audi focused on turbochargers that feature widely in current models. However, Audi today says comparative tests have shown that a mechanical supe…

Just wanted to add my comments about last weeks JAE weekend. It was by far the best camping weekend I’ve had with the club to date. The atmosphere was superb and very friendly. I appreciate that the location wasn’t ideal for many members, however, it really was worth the extra miles. The beach location is far better than The East of England showground at Peterborough. Many of our members travelled an awful long way to get there and from the feedback I got before leaving on the Sunday afternoon, everyone thought it was worth it and would definitely be returning in 2009. The JAE team really did pull out all the stops to put on a busy weekend. You have to take…

Hi Guys, I am looking to convert my Jap spec clocks to MPH and I'm confused as to which is the right method of doing it. I have searched endlessly through the forum and get a mixed opinion on the matter. Some say that the convertor boxes that fit to the speedo behind the dash can cause the steering to be too light and also effect the HICAS because the ecu's think the car is going slower than it is. Makes sense I know. Looking at the circuit diagrams this certainly seems the case. Then some folk say that they have fitted the convertor box with no apparent issues. I also know that a resistor can be changed, but I'd rather source a UK cluster or fit a convertor. C…

just noticed the wanted thread for intercooler ducting, and after searching found that most aftermarket bumpers won't allow them to fit - is there anyone who can do i/c ducts for specific aftermarket bumpers? or is this something a half-decent bodyshop can fabricate?
