speedo cluster for a 1990 jap auto
Hi All, looking for a working set of clocks for my zed. Speedo is knackered by the looks of it and with my luck, the clock set I bought to replace was also duff. If anyone has a set I would be really interested. All the best Trev

Speedo not working
Hi All, well just did the tests as Jeff suggested and at the speedo and check connection, I was getting variable voltage. Tried this on both sets of clocks that I have. Reckon the speedo on the second set of clocks I bought must also have been broken. Can these be fixed or is it off to get another set of clocks and hope for the best? Cheers all Trev

Speedo not working
Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Haven't been using any consult cables so that's not the problem but good call anyway Lymon. Rolandas, connected speed senor to my power drill and got variable voltage up to 3V - drill wouldn't go any faster - it needed charging!! Jeff, cheers for the info, will be going through your step by step list at the weekend so will let you know how I get on. After all the work I have had done to this, I can't believe a dodgy speedo has got me beat but I am determined to get it sorted. Thanks again Trev

Speedo not working
Hi Folks, here is my story so far - I have drawn a blank so hope someone out there can help as I am slowly going crazy!! Speedo stopped working and power steering got heavy. removed clocks and re-soldered all connections on the speedo PCB replaced clocks - still no joy fitted secondhand set of clocks - still no joy fitted new VSS - still no joy so, now I have two sets of clocks and a spare VSS. Checked old VSS with multimeter and it's OK To eliminate this problem being the clocks, is there any way I can connect the VSS directly to the clocks whilst out of the car and if so what colour wires do I connect from the VSS to the speedo mylar sheet? I've checked continuity between pin 53 on the ECU and the connector at the clocks and this seems all good. Any advice on which colour wires I should be testing for continuity? Failing that, anyone know of a good Auto electrician in the merseyside area, although would be prepared to travel to get this bugger fixed. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Trev

Jeff at zedworld
Hi everyone. Just like to say that I had quite a lot of work done on my zx this week by Jeff. Autobox fluid change, rockerbox oil leak, onepiece prop fitted. Turns out my leak was also camend seals. All the work done was photographed and emailed every night. Extra parts needed like plugs and pcv valves were supplied as very good second hand parts at a very good price. I had to travel 110 miles but would say the work carried out was worth every mile. Also gives you an excuse for a good drive home in a car that now runs spot on. I, like many others on this site would recommend Jeff, and a great bloke too. Lynda was good enough to pick us up from the train station as well. you don't get service like this very often. If like me your sitting at home thinking is it worth the journey down or should I just put the car in the local garage and hope for the best, I wouldn't think twice, - well worth the journey. Trev

suspension
yes that does help.had a look at the on line manual and can see what you mean.looks like i'll have to invest in some adjustable top links.can't see anything wrong with the top links at the moment,so maybe new shocks will allso help. many thanks trev.

camber adjustment
1990 automatic na jap Had wear on nearside tyre, so had a 4 wheel alignment check done.was told they couldn't set it up as there must be damage to some part of the suspension.I was told it could possibly be the upper arm bent.I recently had a steering rack fitted so it may of been bent then. The problem i have now is.do i try and source a second hand upper arm assembly,or fit adustable upper arms.I was also told that new springs will help with camber.does anyone know where to source springs from?. thanks trev.

fast idle problem
had a similar sound from my dash after fitting a hid kit.each time i had a click, revs would increase.i traced the clicking to the aiv control solenoid valve which is in the engine bay by the break master cylinder[directly behind your clocks].i never got to the bottom of this problem so maybe you might! best of luck.hope that all makes sense.
