  1. yes me too, squeaking brakes nightmare.got a new seal kit from bigred and fitted them on Sunday.no more squeaking.had the pads out a few times, pushed the pistons out a few times as well, but nothing seemed to work.i think it might be time for the refurb.might be worth a few hours of rolling on the floor and getting dirty[pardon the expression]. anyway thats my 2 pence worth.
  2. peanut oil is the one to look for.best of luck i'm still getting a wet leg!
  3. you get his wheels i'll get his o2 sensor.
  4. so thats where me wallet went?
  5. Just wanted to say a big thanks to brian for all the help i received on friday. He sold me a set of standard wheels with new tyres which where it top condition for a great price. He also while i was there was good enough to run a conzult on the z which showed up my only problem to be a lasy o2 sensor. This favour alone gives you peace of mind just to know how your car is really running.I also had my first ride a turbo z.God that car is fast.had to stop on the way home to use a pub toilet. My only problem now is i'll have to sell my na and get a twin turbo. And to top it all his wife makes the best cup of tea.I am now begining to see what a great commuity this site has, so i'll have to make some effort to get to some of the meets this year and maybe meet some more of you guys.anyway thanks again brian and all the techies on this site. trev.
  6. I'm no techy so this is just a thought. If the heads had been skimmed and therefore sitting lower could this affect the position of the cam sprokets and belt.therefore affecting the position of the cas to give the 15 degrees needed.like i said it's only i thought so i'm sure a good techy can put us rite with this idea.
  7. hi everyone. this problem started after fitting a hid kit to the z.After fitting i noticed that the idle became unstable.I noticed that the revs would rise to 1000 and then drop back to 750 every few seconds.I also noticed a clicking noise that sounded like it was behind the dash but turned out to be the aiv solenoid. The lights work great, don't know how i lived without them.Could fitting the hids affect the aiv in anyway? or could i have an unrelated problem with the aiv? any thoughts would be most helpfull. The hids came from danny at dta which i must say was an excellent service and a top bloke. many thanks trev.
  8. I had blue flame fit a cat back system last year. the sevice was very good but it did take a few hours to fit.I still have cats fitted but it has a great sound.I did notice while at the garrage that they manufacture mongoose exhaust on site, probably why the exhaust's are so similar. At the time they said they could make decat pipes aswell.I'm sure if you ask them they could make a decat pipe with some sort of baffle in place of the cat box.Anyway it's just a thought and i don't know what that would do to the performance but might be worth a try.Blue flame are in skelmersdale the number is 01695 733100. give them a try you never know your luck. trev
  9. nice idear.surley only a matter of time and a lot of development work, but thats how the variable vane came about.choice of materials holds back a lot of development.but with better development of nimonic alloys and other materials who knows?
  10. lol.would'nt like to put my fingers in it while its running
  11. lol nothing like a good bit of bonus
  12. yes variable vane good in theory, but not worked out well in practice.lol
  13. not when you see the complexity and price of a balancing fixture.or the price of a one off thrust bearing.
  14. hi all. I know this is going to hurt a lot of people on this forum,This is what was done to three new turbo's today in work.Believe me i didn't enjoy having to do this especially as my car is a na.they are to be presented to employees of garretts, as the skelmersdale site is nearing closure.we have been producing small batches of thrust bearings, balancing fixtures, test rigs ect for the last fifteen years, but like a lot of industry they are moving to eastern europe.Anyway i hope this does not upset to many people but there is no way they are going to work now!.[ hope the attachment works as it is the first time iv'e tried adding an attachment!.]
  15. Had the same problem myself.so after skimming the disks and fitting new pads the vibration was still as bad.got some new tension rods and this did the trick.bushes are the cheapest so i would start with them first and then maybe the disks.
  16. capricorn for me 25 december.not a good birthdate although i have never had to work on my birthday.
  17. hi dave I have just had to replace mine. got the adjustable ones from smithy.Slightly more exspensive but much better than getting the bushes, then having to press the old ones out and press the new ones in.Check out smithy's site is probably your best bet.
  18. Ive got a brandnew primera matrix if you want it. you will have to mod the heater box, which is a bit of a pain that is why a did not fit it myself.Make me an offer and its yours.
  19. Thanks for the quick reply. I think i better start looking for one then.by the way did you get your matrix sorted out?
  20. Just a quick question.I have a 1990 na which has a new standard radiator which i believe all so cools the trans.is it still worth fitting an separate trans radiator or will a new standard rad do the job of cooling the trans on a na. thanks.
  21. ive got new primera matrix that i didn't use.had one made up locally for £90 so didn't use the primera matrix.don't know how much postage will be but if you want it make me an offer.
  22. only buy decent tyres and brake pads. applies to your z aswell!
  23. hi I have just resubscribed but cannot get any webmail. thanks trev.
