  2. Well guys, The zed is back on the road!!! :hyper: For how long is another matter but fingers crossed my problems are over.. Big thanks to everyone for the help and advice. Manta, I had the battery tested and half the cells were BANJAXED :D Good call on that one. My new alternator belt must have been too loose because that was also Knackered, Thanks Ryan. So i got all the niggles straightened out today and I have to say i'm glad i stuck with it cos i had some laugh driving the 15 miles home with the roof off :nana2: Cheers everyone ...Richie
  3. Thanks for the help guys.. It is greatly appreciated!
  4. Thanks for the advice bud! It gets fierce frustrating when you've waited a few weeks to get the damn car back and it still doesn't run the way it should.. I hate to say it but i've never had the hardship that this car is causing before.. but as you say it is more than likely a loose wire or connection.. Thanks, Richie
  5. I'll pass on any info to my mechanic and hopefully he'll understand the jargon :))
  6. Sorry to sound stupid mate but I don't have a clue about drop charging batteries or where to find charging circuit faults
  7. The car wouldn't turn over at all and all the warning lights barely came on mate
  8. I forgot to mention that the HICAS light and the ABS lights came on almost immediately as i started driving
  9. Ok Guys, As some of you may know I've been having nothing but trouble with my jap TT auto. Since December 05 I've had the timing belt split and replaced. The car ran fine for a couple of weeks and then started playing up again. It keeps dying on me (as in ,it loses power and then stops completely) The engine coolant sensor has been changed as the old one had damaged and corroded pins, the PTU has been upgraded to a series 2 item and the alternator was sent off to be repaired( had brushes replaced). I went to collect it this evening and I was told it was charging fine.. I drove for about 1 mile and the damn thing konked out again!! What the hell can i do to sort this problem out once and for all??? The battery was totally dead, I did have my lights on at the time and the stereo was loading a navigation disc but this was while i was driving.. Any ideas guys??? Richie
  10. Hi guys, Richie here again!! I've replaced my PTU with a series 2 unit and replaced the engine cooling sensor but the mechanic says the car is still not charging the battery!! He says that the charging warning light doesn't come on so its not the alternator. Could it be the CAS connection and how do I go about sorting it out? If not the CAS what else is there?? Thanks Richie.
  11. I got mine from Ryan at Z Tech for £140 and am well happy with the price. I had to go to my local Nissan dealer in Kilkenny yesterday to collect an engine coolant sensor and I gave him the part number off the PTU to see the difference in price................... 1,230 euro!!!!! :nelson: I nearly dropped with shock!! I then burst out laughing and walked out. I paid 225 euro including delivery from Ryan so I made a total saving of 1,005 euro! Thats unbelievable :D
  12. Every day I go onto this site and even though I don't say much I enjoy the banter and camaraderie. My Z is sitting in a yard waiting on a series 2 PTU and engine cooling sensor ( hopefully fitting today) . If it wasn't for the help and advice of you guys I would have given up long ago. This site has gotten me over broken cam belts and an unreliable car to hopefully building a show-stopping monster!! I'd just like to say a big THANKS to everybody for your commitment to this club. A BIG thanks to Ryan (Z-TECH), got the PTU today at 8am mate! I'd also like to thank Luke (Z-CENTRE) for his patience and advice. CHEERS EVERYONE... Richie
  13. THE M*THERf***ERS!!!! thats all i can say. I really hope you get the scum!! I feel sick just looking at it. Real sorry buddy. Richie
  14. I've only driven my car about 10 times since I bought it in August 05 and twice its packed up on the motorway!!! Doing the series 2 PTU this week and all the pulley bearings so hopefully it will be DRIVING at least. I've still got £2,500 worth of bits over there with Luke at the Z centre. The man's a pure gentleman!! I'm going to be getting a few quid back from the taxman in a few weeks I'm just waiting on the cheque so hopefully I can get the bodywork started for the summer! :hyper:
  15. Thanks Andy, I would have been lost without the help and advice I've gotten from the club members and I'm delighted to be a part of it.
  16. Tell me about it  I would have ended up paying 65 euro in total which is about £ 42 :headvswal . Hopefully you should have the cheque by Monday as it was posted yesterday 6-4-06.
  17. Sent a cheque today for my subscription. I was going to do a bank transfer but the bank was charging me an extra 32 euro to transfer money to an English account
  18. My daughters name is Caitlyn It's pronounced Kate-Lynn so it can be shortened to Katie or Kate if she prefers it when she's older. My son is called Cameron
  19. I'm a prison officer with the Irish Prison Service. Not a bad number at all. Plenty of time off :nana2:
  20. Got the car over to the garage on Sunday. I had to change the battery again as it was dead. Got over to my mates and he reckoned it was charging fine. I turned on the air con, stereo, lights and anything electrical i could find and she stayed running away with no problems  Is it the PTU that i should be looking at or would the fact that the battery was fully charged be causing it to stay running.
  21. Started the car yesterday. It fired up first time but there was a strong smell of petrol coming from the back of the engine. Is this going to be another problem or is it related to my alternator fault?
  22. Sorry i didn't get to meet you guys but my zed broke down on the M7 last sat 11-3-06. it has a charging problem but it started first time @ 6.30pm today. I got a strong smell of petrol from the back of the engine so i turned it off!! I would still like to meet up with you guys in the summer if i'm roadworthy!!!
  23. Thanks guys. The car was fine and then the hicas and ABS lights came on followed soon after by every other warning light. When i turned the key a red light came on which looked like a catalytic converter. it was a box with little squiggles over it . Does that make sense?
  24. This car is really starting to P*SS me off. I was driving down the motorway at 80 mph when the stereo starting playing up and then the car lost power and stopped. I was that annoyed i abandoned it and went on to work. I went back this morning and she started up first time and travelled aprox. 5 miles, I figured that the battery is not charging so got a replacement to get me home. I haven't slept yet and i'm back at work for 5.30. What do i have to buy now to make the damn thing reliable  Is it the PTU or the alternator ? ANY HELP GUYS
  25. Hear Hear mate, I got attacked on the door of a student pub one night and in an act of self defence i ended up breaking 5 of the sc**bags teeth!!! Ended up taking the company, the pub and myself to court. The twat thought he was gonna get 50,000 in damages. Luckily enough it was struck out as he was totally to blame. THATS THE PROBLEM- THESE A**HOLES GO LOOKING FOR TROUBLE, GET A HIDING AND EVERY SOLICITOR IN THE COUNTRY GOES BEGGING THEM FOR BUSINESS AND MAKES OUT THAT THEIR CLIENTS ARE POOR LITTLE INNOCENT VICTIMS  .I have absolutely no respect for solicitors as they are little more than prostitutes. After all aren't they SOLICITING every day
