  1. I parked a gun metal one next to you on Friday morning.
  2. I can certainly Vouch for C + S Wood if you cant get in at Andy's. As well as doing a good job themselves, they also dragged back a windscreen fitter who had done a less than perfect job on the car whilst it was in their care and had the job sorted. Inaccessible hoses were replaced during the cambelt change (no extra charge) and my central locking had mysteriously started working again when the car was returned yet nothing was said. All in all I was very happy with their work and confident they knew zx well.
  3. thanks I will look.
  4. No mate, It locked the missus out the other day as well then just decided to open after about ten minutes. Sometimes technology isnt worth the grief.
  5. We are nature, we are a disease, the planet is our host, we will fXXk it then jump ship or die with it. Earth blessed us with the intelligence to look after her interests and the necessary ruthlessness to climb to the top of the food chain to do it, however that ruthlessness also means greed and selfishness; that may be her undoing but then again an asteroid may hit or the sun fries her and we cant do shiv about that.
  6. Thanks Barry, Trouble is I cant see anything that looks like a possible panel and I'm not sure the lease company would appreciate me pulling it apart! If I get nowhere I drop it on their toes to sort out.
  7. Apologies for the none z related query but I am getting nowhere elsewhere. Anyone familiar with Nissan Pathfinder 07 keyless entry, mine wont let me in ! Is there a manual lock anywhere for the emergency key? (manuals are in the glove box).
  8. Thanks, Just seen these on e bay, anyone used them? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110186533135&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:uk
  9. Dear All, I am struggling to get the wheels I like in the correct size without a large wait. Can anyone tell me where I can find a good selection, that will fit the z, with tyres off the shelf? Anywhere in the uk will do however I am in the North west near Manchester Airport. Thanks. ps looking for 19's.
  10. Jack, Could you feel vibration through the car or more just hear something vibrating ? Whatever, I will try that fix, it cant hurt.
  11. I fitted one, it was'nt too bad to fit. I still have the original vibration I had before the cx so either I didnt replace the right thing or I have introduced some new vibes however the prop is running true as I have used a DTI on it. Retrospectively, unless you desperately need to reduce weight cos your racing, I would stick to original set up as it compensates more for misallignment between gearbox and diff.
  12. Thanks, I have seen the offset calculating tool which is most useful for working out wheel sizes http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html. What would be a good bit of additional knowledge to go with this for Zeders would be :- Given standard offsets front and rear and a car that still has Hicas engaged. How much clearance remains before a wheel will foul or how much wider can a wheel be before it will foul. Two clearance dimensions needed for the front and two for the back. One clearance dimension for wheel to wheel arch (outboard) and the other for wheel to running gear (inboard). This information coupled with the offset calculator would help to get the fit right. Personally I am looking at fitting 18" rims and following Legraths guide of an 8.5" front with a 235 35 tyre and 9.5" rear with 265 30 tyre. I wonder though, when I get to a wheel shop how restricted I am going to be by offset, width etc and this is where I believe clearances and the calculator will come into their own. So if anyone has any figures please post them.
  13. Evening all, A quick question. Whilst searching the threads I found conflicting information on the uk spec wheel offsets. One stated : Front 35 and Rear 45. The other : Front 45 and rear 35. Can any one tell me without doubt which is correct? Many thanks.
  14. I was but let it slip, better get my hand in my pocket.
  15. could be, I'll try a PM. Thanks
  16. I am looking for some advice from Simon of Wolf motorsport in Bredbury Stockport, I know hes a 300zx member and owner but cannot remember his user name. So if anyone can help with this information I'd be most grateful.
  17. Nice. Thats one way to change the appearance of your z. I think the flames down the side are a bit over the top though.
  18. Could have been me, between Stoke and Knutsford?
  19. tried everything, its knackered.

check the fuel line filters for debris (not sure if this is gospel but I seem to remember from a previos thread that the z has a small filter at the fuel pump inlet, I had this problem with a renault 5 turbo and it was this filter causing the trouble).
  21. The service history states the flywheel was skimmed and it was a £243 clutch kit in 2002 (whether that is a indication of a good/bad/mediocre clutch I dont know). If the rear oil seal is leaking would it find its way out of the bell housing? Rob
  22. Thanks, its any gear, give it too much gas at low rpm and it rides, has got rapidly worse, no gear crunching mind. I tend to take it easy to prevent the slip but yes it will smell if I let it ride. Regards High clutch bite, not that Ive noticed but I'll investigate. 20k out of a clutch? I've only put 2k on the clock so can not say how it has been driven really but Is that a reasonable figure for a clutch? What about hydraulics? Is there any way that air ingress can cause the same symptoms only I experienced a little clutch ride about 1500 miles ago and after bleeding the clutch I had no further problems although I did put the ride down to a lazy left foot at the time (a little weight left on the clutch pedal), I have to agree though, the writings on the wall and an order from Smithy is around the corner.
  23. I need to re-familiarize with clutch operation, when the pedal is depressed, hyd fluid transmits force to clutch plates separating them and when released the springs pull the plates back together? So if the clutch slips with the pedal released then its plate and springs that are worn or perhaps a linkage preventing release. However if it were a sticky linkage I would feel something through my foot and once it has freed it shouldnt slip the clutch again until I depress the pedal again (pls no comments that its you I'm depressing). I could do with some confirmation of this train of thought since money is a little short. The car had a new clutch 20k miles ago.
