Major overheating!!!!! ARGGGHHH!!!!
Newbie Dont know what you have had checked or replaced on your car. But lots of people just seem to buy their cars jump in and expect it to be able to do a possible 150mph no problems. Well I for one did a lot of work on my car and had it checked over very carefully by a trusted mechanic and I also spent a lot of time under the ramp. Changing the cambelt , waterpump and most if not all of the hoses should be a matter of course. There is enough on this car to go wrong without the usual suspects being changed.Of course there will still be problems , but it is up to the driver at the end of the day to make sure he/she has a safe and reliable car they can use. If you want the name of a good garage let me know. Mark

Standard Clutch
Jay If/when you change the clutch fit an RPS semented flywheel (approx. £260 from US) - saves you taking the gearbox out again and makes a big difference to responsiveness. Approx half the weight of the stock flywheel. Mark

Rear Tyres
Howard Try your local Kwik-Fit for supply only. Standard Michellin pilot sports £100 ea. cash. Should be able to get them fitted at a local garage for about £5-7 ea. But get your rear tracking sorted first. Mark

My advice would be get somebody from this forum to look at it with you. They wont be looking at it through rose tinted glasses and will give you an unbiased second opinion. I`m in P`boro if thats any help - but ask anyone local and I am sure they will help. Mark

Manual/Auto ECU`s

Manual/Auto ECU`s
Whats the difference? I have a manual TT car , is it worth me buying a stock auto ecu with a view to socketing it for a modded chip? The auto ecu I have in mind is cheap thats why I ask. Thanks for any help Mark

F355 Info
Thanks for the replies guys , especially Danny. The car wont be coming from a dealer or club member - far too expensive. Chances are it will be coming from a salvage co. I buy approx. 90% of my cars from there.Mostly very good cars , occasionally not so good. I also wont be spending lots of money on it. I can have use of a garage and if the engine has to come out for example then so be it. I was mainly looking for info on problems ,if any , with this model. How reliable? I can get it serviced ok. After lots of hassle with main dealers , including Nissan , I dont rate any of them - so wont be visiting any more unless I am desperate. Regarding the ffsh - there wont be any so it wont be continued. So what I am looking for is can they be used on a daily basis or extended holiday , say a months driving. Or do they have problems I should know about? As you say very few and far between hence my post for info. Mark

F355 Info
I could always take it to Billing and say it was a Toyota!!! Finding it difficult to get good sources of info. You might be right about the forum - just had a look at supercars forum - not impressed. There must be guys who talk about these cars occasionally. Mark

F355 Info
Anybody know any decent sites re: the above. Have done searches and most of these sites are crap. Am looking to buy sooner or later - but cant find any good sources of info. Or has anybody got one or had one? Cheers Mark ps Still keeping the zed though.

Best performance SS exhaust
ok guys - quite interesting. Would it be fair to say , then , any performance SS exh. would be worth buying as there doesn`t seem to be much in it? What about the dia. of the pipes - ie. would a 3" be better than a 21/2" - I would only be interested in a stage 3 mod. Mark

Best performance SS exhaust
Whats the best one for the money? Was anybody impressed by theirs? Or not as the case maybe. Cheers Mark

Broken det sensor?
Rob The original harness or lead has a plug on each end, so don`t cut anything. There are 2 connections at the large plug end but only 1 repeat only 1 at the sensor end - and yes i think the cable is screened. As i said before for the sake of £20 why not replace it? I replaced both on mine (from courtesy) and all was ok. But its not an easy job - good luck Mark
-
Broken det sensor?
Nobody has mentioned the short cable/lead to the sensor. This gets VERY hot and goes brittle with age and fails. For the sake of about £20 change it. Also the sensor i think is about £100 from courtesy - a good exchange rate at the mo with the $ Mark
