What did you do to your zed today?
I've never seen another 'intact' Z32, only the BDC drift spec one, and another purple stripped out one at Combe once, so I assumed that my shiny dash was normal! It's been like that since I bought it, all I've done is wipe the dust off. Might give that matt effect cleaning stuff a go. Windscreen is filthy, but that's 'cos I forgot to top up the washers. I'm using a bottle every two days at the minute with the amount of dust and pollen and gack everywhere.

What did you do to your zed today?
Solved my biggest peeve with the Zed, namely, the inability to see anything through the front screen when the sun reflected off the instrument cluster. Spent a fiver on a pair of polarising sunnies on Amazon. Eliminates all the glare. Small difference, BIG change to driving in the sun. Anyone have a more permanent solution?

Super, will have to check the clips as well as the location of the silicone sealant.... when it stops raining... :cursing:

What did you do to your zed today?
Ah.. something else that my car should have but doesn't. I guess that's offset by the stuff it shouldn't have but does? :) I was quite disappointed it didn't have the JDM speed dinger thing. The dripping is the left hand targa where it meets the top of the A pillar. I've narrowed it down to either, The drain tube not being sealed at the top The big slab of rubber in that corner not being siliconed in properly (it looks a little peely) or the seals just being past it despite looking ok, and allowing water through that wacky labyrinth bit where the window seal swaps from pillar to targa panel and the roof and everything. That combined with the fact that the front window vents force the AC out of eco mode, which it doesn't really like... Oh, and somewhere in the rear left corner of the boot lid, but I can't replicate that with buckets of water.

rubber door top selals and window trims
Does anyone have long term experience of silicone grease. Mine was leaking like a sieve and I slapped some silislip on on the advice of an old codger at work and it did the trick. Only a minor leak in a different place now. What I don't know is how it affects the rubber in the long term. Stopped the window rubbers creaking though...

What did you do to your zed today?
Wednesday I spent ripping various bits of trim off trying to find the source of the mysterious dripping. No luck, very damp. At least driving through the puddles topped the blinker fluid up. Must find a way to seal the units. Boring today. Changed air filters. Literally shovelled mud out of the bottom of the air box. Makes a big difference, but I wish someone had told me before that it's nigh on impossible to get the darn lid back on without it fouling on everything known to man on the way in. Not specifically Zed related but I bought a boost pack as I keep leaving the lights on. Is there supposed to be a light to tell you the lights are on, or is it just a naff design?

Rare parts thread
Not 100% sure how relevant this actually is, but I've been mooching about the internet trying to find a targa shade locking lug thing as one of mine seems to have fallen orf. The round plastic wodjit stuck to the glass... Anyway, I was in Nissan Rowstock pricing up some other bits and bobs and lo and behold, the lugs are on the system and marked as available. So I ordered one for two pounds eighty. Hasn't arrived yet as it's got to come from Japan/'Dam, but just goes to show that sometimes the best place to go is back to they who made it in the first place. Got some bushes for the shifter for a couple of quid each too, and confirmation that they can get key blanks in both plastic and 'fashion' styles. (whatever 'fashion' is). Whether they can cut me a new master key from the VIN is another matter, as I've only got what I suspect to be a valet key. TL;DR, Nissan still have some difficult to find bits tucked away. Edit: I suspect 'fashion' key to be the titanium/pretty stainless ones. Can't confirm.

What did you do to your zed today?
Cheers! She's been around the block a bit, with at least three forum users having had her before, and 12 UK owners on the V5 (not to mention owners when it was in Japan), but one day I hope to have her pretty. Or fast.

Wheel wizard....
What I bought it with: 225 R17 Momo GT2s all round with worn out plastidip white nattiness. What I recently bought 235 R17 front, 255 R17 rear unknown JDM split rims. These wheels have been around the S body scene for a little while, they came to the country on an import S13 and the consensus seems to be that they're Rays centres that have been re-rimmed at some point. If anyone has any idea what they are, I'd love to know! And for a laugh, we mocked my mates 18" Work CR Kiwami's on the rear, but it looked so godawful with the moderate ride height and bronze 18" wheels with ridiculously stretched tyres that we didn't even bother taking a photo and whipped them straight back off again. His Rota Grids looked OK though, those are 235 R17 and fit like a glove. No spacers on any of it, but the new wheels seem to fit just right. Will get the tape measure out and do a proper offset calc when the tyres get changed.

What did you do to your zed today?
What did I do today? LOTS! Received my new 17mm AF wheel nuts in the post, and immediately woke my mate up so I could go and collect the wheels I bought last week. (the wheel hole is too small for the socket for the 21mm nuts I had before) They're not perfect, but the money helped a mate out and they're infinitely better than the unbalanced and very white Momo 5 spokes that it came with. Plus the Bridgestones on the front wheels are a massive improvement on the mismatched Chinesium Ditchfinder Pro's on the old wheels! Then shot over to a different mate and got the old girl up on his two post as I've not seen the underside after buying it two months ago..... clean bill of health. Some minor crispiness on the pinch welds, but nothing that makes me weep! Happy days! Then, over to my local scrappers after a quick bite of lunch to see if I could scrounge some wiring to repair the right hand indicator bulb holder which had ceased to transmit electrons. Ended up discovering that facelift K11 Micra indicator bulb holders have the same connector and the same bayonet design, and although they don't have the wire tail of the original, the chassis loom stretches to connect, so flashing recommenced! Also fitted my snazzy chrome interior door handles because why not? Easy to do, and I've got two more knocking about. That little lot, combined with the door mirror I swapped out, is making it really start coming together. The old mirror was held together with wood screws! New one has power fold... Decadent. Now to scrape the cash together to completely renew every single suspension bush, and throw some proper coilies on as the lowering springs just aren't cutting the mustard.

Engine bay connectors and JDM headlamp bulbs?
I never expected it to be good on fuel, but there's no point just throwing it away, is there? Specially as the BP near me has broken its Ultimate pump, and the nearest superjuice is a 20 mile round trip... I may just re-disconnect them then. Seems to have made no difference to high rev running, but it does labour under load at low revs where it didn't before. I'll buy new ones once I've finished the useless cosmetic stuff :)

Engine bay connectors and JDM headlamp bulbs?
Of course there's a weird sub-design of H3 that no one uses or stocks except Nissan! Wouldn't be fun otherwise, would it. O2 sensors sound like they can wait until I've sorted the rear suspension bushes, but do they actually make much difference to how the car runs? As mine's a daily, the miles per gallon do matter to me!
-
Engine bay connectors and JDM headlamp bulbs?
Ah... so which of the two holes in the connector does the pin on the H1 bulb go in? Are both those connectors O2? Seems like a funny way of arranging them. The perfectionist in me just wants the loom to be symmetrical for both banks! It's been smelling rich as hell, and dead O2 sensors/disconnected would explain that. Are they pricey is the terrifying question...

swb washer bottle
In case you haven't got round to finding it yet, it's immediately underneath where the filler hole is, back left. Middle trim panel at the back has little thumb screws to pull it off, then the corner panel comes out with a few screws. Mine kept emptying itself into the boot too, and I found it was a drain/overflow tube that comes off the filler siphoning the contents out of the bottle if I filled it too much! Whether that's standard or not, I do not know.

Engine bay connectors and JDM headlamp bulbs?
Multiple questions, single post, hoping someone can make sense of what I'm about to ask. When I bought my NA shorty, there were a couple of connectors unplugged in the engine bay. I drove like this not noticing them for a while, noticed them and plugged them in. No difference seems to have presented itself aside from a slight hesitation if I floor it at low revs. Not sure if that was there anyway. One was on the back of the engine, dead centre, just behind the plastic throttle cable cover, the other on the left side of the engine, tied to the head (looking from the front). Pics enclosed. Any ideas what these doohickeys do? Second question... What headlamp bulbs does this thing need?! Both my local motor parts place and Hellfrauds recommended H1 bulbs. These really don't fit. At all. For a start, the connectors are two pin, not one as an H1 bulb has, and they don't fit snug in the holder, or even light up. The bulbs that are in there already (pics) dont really fit either. You have to wedge them in at a jaunty angle as the clips aren't remotely long enough to reach them when they're located properly in the housing. This of course means half the light leaks out and the headlamps are about as much use as throwing matchsticks down the road. I don't mind using these bulbs as I can turn up some ally rings to sit on the back of the bulb and bulk them out so the clips engage, as the bulbs sit well in the housings and light up adequately, but I have no idea what these bulbs actually are! No one seems to know. So, looking for what these bulbs are, or what the correct ones are, or have I just got weird headlamps. Two hours googling JDM Z32 headlamps showed very little. Any ideas what this thing is? Or are LED conversions worth the time. A 12 quid cree LED bike light shone through the back of the housing produced about the same result as the standard lamps did, so... Thanks guys, this one's had a group of seasoned S body bods and me scratching our various heads about all things old and Nissan.

All done, super! Is there anything that obviously changes my end apart from being able to sell junk now, or is it all admin side? Also, I gather I have to send a PM to someone with some stuff... Not sure how that works exactly. Thanks for sorting!

Right, I've re-dowloaded the bank app, sorted it all out with their phone people, and it's actually worked this time! £20 should be with you guys any time now. Sorry for the messing... You don't need a branch in your town they said. Do internet banking they said... it's great they said. Cheers!

What did you do to your zed today?
Got a spare couple of hours so off for a drive to nowhere with the targas off. What a way to travel eh? Also ignored the clutch master and decided to dig under the front panel, see what was there. Turns out there's a very leaky airbox, missing a few screws, full of water and mud. New filters added to list of carp to order... C'est la vie. ..
-
Hi from Oxfordshire
I've found some seepage down the clutch pedal, so I'm assuming the master is on its way out. Got it bled and filled to the max line, and it's dropped 5mm down over ~200 miles. Keep topping it up is the current answer, until I've got the kitchen done and can devote the time to replacing the cylinder!

Yeah, used the Lloyds telephone app, but I'm now unable to access said app to check whether it's gone through.

Ah, I did notice some sogginess down there, but I assumed it was the targa leak. Will have to have another poke. Thanks!

New member paid... I think.
Right, did an internet balance transfer thing for the £20 new subscriber membership, it said 'confirmed', then the app committed harikari and all its 1s and 0s leaked fell out, so I can't check or confirm that the payment actually went through, so, err... yeah. Could someone confirm/not please! Thanks! Technology eh?
