stuff it im goin for tesco value oil with no viscosity rating and changing it every 25,000!

..on my decision to sell the Zed. my old zed looked the part imo, it looked clean and ran ok. however, underneath it was rotten, the sills were rotting through, the tub seals were shot, there were annoying little patches of rust coming through on the bodywork, it squeaked and rattled were interior trim had broken etc... and most of all, it was an auto. i originally decided i would blow a load of money rectifying these problems (somewhere in the region of 5k). instead i sold it for 1600 notes... :smash: :cry: the 1600 notes together with the 5k then gave me a particularly sizable pot to buy a new zed with. Lee of Import-ance had 1 that he had freshly imported and met nearly all my criteria... so i bought it... less than a week after i sold my other 1! :dance: its only done 59k miles which has more than halved the mileage of my old 1, underneath it is absolutely spotless, its a manual, all the trim is still very tight and solid, its boosting normal pressure (feels a hell of alot faster) and its so much nicer to drive. :cool: it has cost me a few tanks of fuel over 4k and is a tenfold improvement on my 1st zed. so i have saved nearly 3 thousand quid by selling up and buying a manual tt without the 15yrs of uk roads damage, the bonus of lower miles and a summer of driving a fully serviceable zed rather than limping along! this is an individual case for me but for all those people contemplating a manual conversion and have or suspect more problems that would cost alot of muller, this is definately the way to go. no doubt the saved 3k will get zapped fairly quickly on maintenace and servicing over a period of time but i now believe i have a great base model to re-start my zedding furture with. my taste for pearl white changed... i still love it and think it looks awesome but i have taken a liking to a different colour. my old zed was booked in for a respray in june so i had already budgeted for a new paintjob, the mrs agreed that it doesnt matter what colour the new 1 is as it will be repainted shortly after purchase... however, the paintjob on this 1 is so immaculate that i think il leave it for a while before i change it. i would never buy 1 in this colour but after seeing it we both liked it... its red! :rolleyes:

93 tt manual with less than half the mileage of my old 1 :)

its the Dawn of the Zed... the return of the living Zed... its the day i get my new zed! and only just over a week since i sold mine i think its bloody good going. it took me 18months to find my first 1 so i am munchos pleasedos at the timing of this 1. :dance:

at least you know you are safe and sound with sleazyjet, with top quality maintenance carried out by me :p you dont even want to know about ryanairs mai... nothing..! :x:

i can safely say that ryanair have cost me my job... twice, therefore... no comment ;)

im not sure for high power examples but i seem to remember oilman explaining reasons not to put that castrol 10w60 stuff in... do a search under username 'oilman' and you will find your answer :)

im sure thatll be fine mate... just religiously change your oil every 2k anyway :)

most of the things he lists, such as shutting down your car at traffic lights etc would be a waste of time and annoying. weight saving will always reduce mpg but how far should you go? as for the acetone, it will basically increase the octane and aid your fuel and burn more effeciently. however, i would be curious to see the long term effects it has on various engine internals. as you know, if you have a car with the ecu setup to run on a certain type or octane of fuel and use something totally different it could cause problems.

i got a new zed now so il prolly be up for this :) what do i have to do to confirm?

cheerZ for your input on this guys... as with anything it seems there are good reviews and bad reviews. it seems markzx had a particularly bad experience but as stated i think its prolly more due to the installation than the hardware itself. the company i will use are one of very few in the uk who are authorised by clifford themselves (incidentally GAP security who operate under the clifford.co.uk url are not clifford approved dealers/installers!) they also give a lifetime garuntee so il pop round to them to discuss my options. the clifford webby states that the new intellistart systems do not invalidate the cat1 certification. im hoping i will lower the installation costs as i will remove and refit everything they need... most of it will be removed to setup the install from my old zed. thats the one i am looking at... also, the clifford website recommended an approved dealer which happens to be an old friends business in harlow called just ice. where did you get yours fitted iKarl?

does any1 have a recommendation for a decent car alarm and immobiliser and also recommendations on reasonably priced companies? my previous zed had a toad alarm which was always going off and was fookin annoying... im thinking of goin for a decent clifford alarm but have had no experience with these. cheerZ Joel.
