  1. Looks like my drivers side window motor has died. Stripped the door down last night and soldered some dry joints in the control box which I've heard is a common fault but still not working. Tested there's power to the motor (25v?) so looks like it's failed. How easy are they to swap? I couldn't really see the motor from any angle, even with the metal speaker panel removed. Looks like a PITA to do  If anyone has a drivers side motor going spare PM me :)
  2. It's OK mate, you can have my sausage anytime, I owe you one! :nana2:  When Chunk doesn't turn up there's more for the rest of us
  3. Been waiting for that all week!
  4. Don't you just love the text on the back of the car... :mac1:
  5. UK cars got the Nissan "hamburger" badge and Japanese cars had the Z badge. Looks best of all with just a smooth panel and no badge!
  6. Will try to make this one but... Got the option of a bank holiday at the coast with my boat and baywatch birds on board
  7. First time i've been on here since last week LOL THANKS GUYS! 35! Aaaaargghhh! I had some special councelling from a girl on friday night and I do feel much better now :D  Proper party weekend and I'm still recovering :nana2:
  8. I'm sure the problem is down to short shifters speeding up the change so it's quicker than the box was designed for. It was never designed to be taking 500+bhp and changing up twice as quick!
  9. Hmmmmm Were you the one telling me the same lines for a year about my rebuild? :slap: I think he's probably rebuilding his Z after all the parts were knicked off it :nono: Might add to this thread when I have some serious typing time available!
  10. Get the shifter bushes changed (couple of quid) and a short shifter from Z Centre and it's transformed. Mine is as solid as a rock with only about an inch of movement to change gear. Problem seems to be high speed changes from 4th to 5th in high power cars :( Mine is crunching when I rev it out in 4th and do a quick change. Maybe its a short shifter problem speeding up the change to much?
  11. Have you done the diagnostics above? Can be a bad connection on the top of the reservoir. Unplug the connector from the lid and short it with a paperclip to eliminate that.
  12. OMG  Looks like someone doesn't like you TBH If it was just the local kids messing about I don't think they'd have done quite so much. Just hope you can get a respray :( I know how gutted I'd be mate.
  13. Most common one to go is the long one that goes down to the steering rack. It has a sleeve covering a metal crimp that often punctures the pipe.

  16. You sure you bought the right car?
  17. My uncle has a silver car but it's not a Z and he wouldn't be down there
  18. Answered that above!
  19. It's Dexron II or III type auto transmission fluid. Fill it up, put the top on and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times to get any air out of the system then check it again. If your steering wheel isn't centred then after a certain distance the light will come on as you're permanently telling the car you're cornering when it knows this must be a fault. If you want to do the full HICAS diags here's how: http://www.ttzd.com/tech/hicastech.html
  20. Thought that might get your attention ;) It was near Wetherby heading north at about 4pm on Wed I think. Was in one piece but with the rotors, guns etc stripped off - boring! LOL Hadn't seen the Fountains meet, not sure I can make it yet but will try :)
  21. Yeah I need to get this sorted ASAP, was a nightmare. Posted this before I spotted this thread: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=70441 Problem I have is the big brakes stop the space saver going on the front and I decided that to use it on the rear with a 285/18" on the other axle with hub spacers would be plain dangerous. I don't think I'd be able to do more than 25mph. If I'd had the space saver with me and swapped the rear wheel to the front I think my huge wheels would have stuck out of the arch and ripped that too. Was just my luck it happened at 5pm on bank holiday saturday night so they could charge me what they liked really, I had no choice.
  22. Saw what looked like an Apache chopper in bits on the back of a truck coming up the A1 on wednesday afternoon. Looked like it had been damaged as there was all sorts of rubbish hanging off it. Has Mr Apache been letting forum members have a go on the real thing? :o
  23. Check all the electrics - I had a Clio recently and hardly any of the gadgets worked. Starter motors can stick a bit but otherwise not too much mechanically.
  24. Drove down from Harrogate to Peterborough over the bank holiday weekend. $hit my pants when I had a front blowout doing about 90 on the A1 but managed to keep it in a straight line somehow and stopped just before the tyre completely left the wheel :o With the wide arches and big brakes on the front my space saver doesn't fit and the cans of tyre inflation foam I carry are pretty useless when the tyre is ripped to shreds! Called the AA but as the Z comes with a spare as standard they wouldn't recover me unless I paid. They tried to help out by sourcing a tyre but at 5pm on bank holiday saturday night it was useless. Had to pay £280 to get towed the last 40 miles or so and couldn't order a tyre all weekend as everywhere was closed :( Luckily Chunk had a spare tyre and came to my rescue! Thanks mate, saved me another couple of days stranded there. Only problem now is the tyre ripped off so badly its damaged my front bumper, wing and side skirt :( I reckon that weekend away will have cost me £800 by the time I've bought a new tyre and had the paintwork done  Expensive lesson! Must get some spacers made so the spare will fit or get an old 18" wheel to keep in the boot.
  25. Has your Z been a bit slow? Get a TT engine put back in
