  1. Hey that's what it sounds like isn't it, problem is that the 'spare' is a 200mile odd away so it's not a quick job. And it's more or less a complete car so anything I take I will have to replace eventually. The fact of the matter is that I simply can't afford it (I know right, I bought a high powered car and complain I can't afford it) at least for stuff that isn't broken. Deadline is beginning of July, but unlike you peeps I don't get a paycheck so it's hard for me to justify spending upwards of £120 on some pulleys that aren't broken, when I have no money to spend on that. As much as you try to advise me l, I am sort of in a difficult position because I can't spend that money, and I can't drive the car with broken suspension.
  2. Not not less expensive to fix a weekend car that has slid on its body straight into a wall. The car has done less than 1000km from import in 2004, and has been sitting in a garage for over 5 years. I couldn't tell you how much action they have seen, but it doesn't look like much IMO.
  3. I know I know. It did have a cambelt change at 60k, now 74k so the tensioner COULD have been changed, but I'm flat broke ATM and I need to buy+replace cracked shocks so in my mind, broken suspension > some not broken pulleys. All a balance of money vs future proofing. Obviously I don't have as much experience as others so I don't know how important it is.
  4. Sooo, as this is a 'What did you do to you're car today?' thread, I did this yesterday Which i was told I was a silly billy for not thinking to change the pulleys, but I really can't afford it and truthfully they are for the 120k change. And refurbed some rusty heater pipes
  5. Agreed :( Nothing against him whatsoever, a conflict of opinions about our tastes. I'll try not to.
  6. Not implying you're stupid but Fake vents = same thing as fake nos stickers (IMO)
  7. Glad it was not just me, but he was offended by me insulting them :(
  8. Despite people advising to do all the pulleys at this point, as the pulleys are in the 120k kit and not the 60k, would it be reasonable to just replace the tensioner pulley as £30 I can stretch, as a the actual tensioning system is still very springgy and taut, and just replace the moving part? or would there be no point?
  9. I'm not saying it was, not saying it wasn't, just saying by eye they work fine. I can rely on the mileage reading, its been sat in a garage the best part of 10 years. Waterpump, hoses are both being replaced. Tbh I'm torn because I have literally £20 ATM which I was going to buy oil with, but he'll that's not even enough for one of the pulleys, yet everyone is emphasising the importance.
  10. My cambelt was done at 60k, I'm now doing it at 74k
  11. Not trying to skimp out, but the pulleys cost excess of £100 together, ATM I can't spend that. How comes the need replacing, they still spin perfectly fine, is it bearings?
  12. Cheers art, it wasn't so difficult after I got past all the bolts that wouldn't come loose, and the broken tools. I feel alot more confident now I've (mostly) completed it New water pump coming (courtesy phoenix), didn't really think the tensioner or idle pulley needed replacing :S
  13. Everything now in place, I don't think I could have been a tooth off, I've counted them all also so I'm happy As you say the crank one looks a couple of mm out but I can't see how it could be wrong, it's where the dent is and that's how it started.
  14. It is, 24 teeth between the intake and exhaust ones.
  15. You're right, it's a few mm off, but I reassured myself as the line is on the dent marking (for all of them) and I read you are supposed to view it from a 15* angle or something. But every line is on the marks, and all the marks line up so I'm happy.
  16. Cheers, thanks here's it installed: (as close as I could get to dead centre, and the other ones line up so looks good Sorry for bothering people, but the search on Tapatalk is horrible so I can't find anything I want
  17. So I believe this is how it goes: Please someone correct me if the marks are wrong, I will now put it in properly.
  18. Yes, so to confirm the two lines on the belt, should line up on the driver's side, and a line not on any sprocket on the passenger side? And then count the number of teeth between the intake cam sprocket and exhaust sproket And this is with the dotted line on the crank marker EDIT: Screw that, when it's tensioned more the drivers side marks don't line up. So can someone tell me which marks go where please
  19. I'm taking a guess and saying line up the dotted one with the crankshaft so the two of the top ones line up, but not the most left one.
  20. Silly question really but what marks on the timing belt go where. I guessed that the arrow FR -> means pointing forwards (the way you would drive), but which mark do you start with on the crank? Cheers...
  21. The attachment is not valid, could you download it and then upload it to your post?
  22. As far as I'm aware only Japan imports had flares
  23. As you're from us it is probably easier to contact him yourself and try and wriggle in the group buy https://m.facebook.com/events/1833806696846810
  24. Looks really mean, just not sure about that offset of rear wheels.
