  2. well iv got a uk car, no rust whatsoever apart from a tiny bubble of rust on 1 of the T tops!! doesnt even look like its chipped, so god knows how that got there! rest of the bodywork is A1 though.
  3. the stock gauge isnt very accurate, & the sender unit is a bit poo as well!
  4. how did i get dragged into this?!?!? LOL!!
  5. i fix cars! i'm never out of work! lol!!
  6. rebuilds depend on a few things: 1, the condition of the main components that are to be used again. if you've got a cracked block - youre stuffed (turkey!:D ) 2, what you spend your money on, how far are you going to go on the rebuild? rebore & pistons or just hone & rings etc 3, the ability of the person rebuilding your engine! but theres no reason why it shouldnt be as good as new (or very near to anyway).
  7. bugger all so far!!!!!! lol! really must get down the shops instead of sitting here!!! :D
  8. if youre talking PRE cats, then UK spec had 1 on the n/s bolted onto the turbo, not sure about j spec for sure tho? to do it properly then i would remove the pre cat to do it, tho there is a tech article from someone that done it by removing the o2 sensor, stuffing loads of oil soaked rag into the hole (!!) to prevent debris from entering the turbo, then removing the downpipe to smash the cat out.
  9. I was thinking of opening a clutch, brakes & tyres shop in MK, im sure i'd make a fortune. all those roundabouts & everyone seems to be flat out braking/accelerating inbetween!! :D
  10. we had a merc come into work the other week, someone had poured paint stripper on EVERY panel & all 4 alloys :( he was an old boy as well, prob never done any harm to anyone.

  18. yea waz, dont start the auto v man war again, its down to personal pref. every one knows the manual is best anyway. no need to rub salt in the wounds of auto drivers!!! :D :D :D
  19. hi newbie na = normally aspirated, ie no turbos as for the price, it really depends on the condition. i paid £7k for my L reg uk tt manual but i looked long & hard & mine is the cleanest i saw with fsh. imports are always harder/more expensive to insure. try insurance factory, i dont think they charge any more for imports & were the cheapest for me anyway. boost is around 9 psi as standard, but the stock gauge is crap & mine used to read just under 14 psi as standard. you can do an on board diagnosis to check for faults in the engine ecu. do a search on here to find out how. where abouts are you??
  20. looked on autodata - looks like theres the airbag, ecu & 1 crash sensor. you will also need the warning lamp in the dash.
  21. it should rise to around 9 psi once warm, if it stays at 7 psi, there could be a fault causing it to be in safety (or standard  ) boost.
  22. OI!!!! stop trying to nick our potential members
  23. 1- dunno, are they all the same length?? 2- convert to mp3 or wma format, search for utilities 3- ? not sure, what are you trying to do, burn to a cd??
