  1. the gearing inside the starter motor can wear & cause a grinding noise while engaged.

mike feeney @ MJP can supply these. 'tis where i got mine :)
  3. right: the boost controller prevents the ecu from putting the car into safety boost. the chip doesnt have different ignition maps so that prevents the timing being retarted. got it!? ;)
  4. thats what we've been trying to tell you :headvswal LOL!! its the boost controller that removes safety boost, not the ecu/chip!
  5. dunno, you would need to see if the safety map is any different! you would still not get safety boost which is far more important than a couple of degrees of ignition retard.
  6. link to knock link! : http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Knock_Link_Kit-LNK_KL_KIT.asp
  7. thats right. EBC's bypass the boost solenoids on the car so you cant get safety boost. & the chip doesnt have alternative ignition maps so the ignition stays the same also! so the ECU knows the car is detting (assuming you had a working det sensor! ;) ) but is unable to do anything about it!! a knock link is a display that you fit in the car that gives a visual indication of det.
  8. no, it means the ECU is unable to do anything about it if it does detect det!
  9. yup! id recommend all that have a boost controller to get a knock link as this would be the only way of knowing your car is detting!! well, until you strip the engine & find a hole in your piston LOL!
  10. unless its got an aftermarket chip! some chips dont have retarded ignition maps for safety mode! (JWT dont IIRC) in which case the det sensor is completely useless anyway!!!

yeah, should only have a non cat test! http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27060
  12. could still be the injector, its just the solenoid that clicks, doesnt ness mean its injecting!
  13. injectors wont fuel much past that anyway, so its pointless raising the boost any further.
  14. remember, your only guilty if you get caught! ;)
  15. if you want to say something horrible about someone without offending them then just start the sentence with "no offence, but........."
  16. unless your getting clutch judder or the surface of the flywheel looks poor then theres really no need. if your intending on getting a l/w flywheel then nows obviously the time to replace it! but no, not essential!
  17. they screw into a boss which you can get seperatly from nissan. done the same on mine!
  18. a lot of us on here use RPS clutches - had mine in for about 3 1/2 years now. speak to Smithy who supplies them :)
  19. look here: http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=efec&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=49&design=default&total=190
  20. no, after that mode there is mode 2 - it flashes the ECU light in time with the O2 switching.
  21. i think these are the ones Jaffa is going to use. dont know of anyone that has them fitted as yet tho in the UK
  22. as said, O2 sensors is the 1st place to start looking. the ECU has a diagnostic mode 2 that checks the operation of the O2 sensors. can be done with or without a ConZult :)
  23. twist the wires together inline, then run the solder in.
