What did you do to your zed today?
I spoke to mark Derby recently and was told that 30 oil was too thin. He recommended 10/40 fully synthetic. I'll be using this on the next oil change! Anyhow, I spent quite a few days making a new loom for the afterburner style light panels. I've installed the new centre pots and in about a day or so I should have the lights loom fully soldered and heat shrinked ready for installation. Then it's time to completely disassemble again to get the light panels rubbed down and freshly painted in gloss black. Once these have been finished it'll be rebuild and begin the wonderful job of removing the original rear lights and fitting up the 6 pot venoms..

Still waiting for that phonecall Chris!? I was around on your drive out day too, shame! Anyways, maybe next time huh? Ive been eagerly waiting to fit the afterburner light panels to the rear of my Z since I received them about 2 months ago now. However after close inspection I found that all 6 of the centre light pots were broken at the tabs that secure them and there's some cracking in the led rings on a couple so I've found it was probably cheaper to buy new ones. I swapped some upgrade parts for the panels that were worth about £260 and now just had to spend over a hundred to replace the bulbs as they were incorrect fitment and also the centre pots! Still, they're all cleaned up now, new parts on route from hella and once they arrive later this week, they'll be fitted at the weekend if the weather permits.. It's been educational! I think I'll go for new parts next time though! Got plans for the new year. Nistune ecu and boost controller, decats and rear oil seal.. Possible clutch upgrade and maybe some new turbos depending on the condition of mine when inspected.. Still got all the underbonnet stuff to fit too, gold plenum, body colour rocker covers and balance tube, turbo hardpipes, silicone hoses, new radiator and series 2 ptu and new coilpacks... I have a feeling that someone's going to be busy in January!

17" alloys
Set of 4 17" 5 spoke seneca alloys. All tyres accelera brand in excellent condition with at least 6mm tread all over. Gripped very well on my Z. Inner surfaces have a little corrosion but will be like new with a powder coat if it bothers you. No kerbing or scuffs. Was going to keep as a spare set but need some funds for a project. Anyone interested pm me or call on the number shown.

Ah, I'm looking for a red and gold one. Your photo before looked red and gold. I'd maybe settle for black and gold but i can't find one anywhere. I did toy with the idea of making my own but feel it'd be a lot of hassle. Still, if I can't find one then it'll have to be home made I guess..

Where do I belong??? Help..
No problem bedzee, it's nice to have a local member! Apart from RichardSmith we are the bedfordshire massive lol.. As for mods mate, my car has had a few subtle ones but they were present when I bought it. The front bumper is an abflug type 4 which is a nice add on and doesn't scream space ship in the way that some of the veilside stuff does! Not sure what the skirts are but they too are subtle and it has a 99 replica spoiler. Other than the wheels that's it.. Oh of course I didn't mention the nostrils.. Previous owner fitted them and it's a bit of a mixed opinion on here.. Lol.. I quite like them, but there are some that would rather stab themselves in the eyes than have them.. Lol.. And the word gold, is disturbing the pigeons recently too Lmao.. Funkysi is still in meltdown over it! As for the welcome, anyone who's committed themselves to the asylum should feel welcome.. We may all be crazy, but we're all crazy together! :taz:

Insurance ?
I was quite shocked at the difference too. I was insuring my nissan xtrail 2.2 turbo diesel on a multicar policy with my wife's car and was paying 700 a year for mine. The xtrail is a 136bhp donkey but i can insure a 300bhp supercar for less than half the price? Even the mileage is the same! Adding to the point that the Z is my everyday car at present too. Insurance is definitely legalised robbery.. If I'd known how cheap I could've insured the Z before I'd have got one much sooner..

Where do I belong??? Help..
Just realised I can't pm a user that's not subscribed!? However, as all the nuts that use the forum can contact me anyway and most of them are at the same sanity level as me anyway, I'll give it to you here. 07900887433 if you just fancy a chat or if I can help with anything just give me a shout. If I can help I will. I'd advise getting a subscription to the forum sorted bedzee, there's a wealth of crazy people here that will be able to give advice on everything you'll ever need to know about the world you're just about to enter. The knowledge here is worth a million mechanics and can save you getting to your wits end trying to work stuff out. They've helped me out no end. Worth every penny of the sub fee.

Insurance ?
I wouldn't bother declaring it.. If it's on the car when you buy it, you wouldn't know would you? Lol.. I'm fairly certain that these mods don't change the performance apart from improving traction and not having to take a torch with you in the dark! I got my insurance through Adrian flux. If you insure your Z with a classic policy then your no claims isn't needed. If you insure both your cars with them they will mirror your no claims for both cars..

Omg.. I was thinking the same.. My phones going off all day and I'm thinking you guys are all busy tinkering with zeds. I guess I can relax now, cos I've not done much other than wash the car and have enjoyable drive.. I believe a new thread for the lifestyle choices may be needed..

Roof trims... Advice needed..
Lol.. Cheers mondo.. All I'll say is that whatever I end up doing to the trims, they'll look a lot better than the turd grey they look at the moment.. I find it amazing that the original paint can last like that but the trim is horrid. Surely someone can invent a trim that doesn't fade and age like these?

Cheers mondo, I do think the hurl was a little bit of a dangly bruiser but ok.. :whistling:

Roof trims... Advice needed..
OK, I have listened to the opinions here and figured that id do a little test before making up my mind.. So today I went to my local car spares shop and got a ten metre roll of 25mm gold pinstripe in the same tone as the pinstripe I fitted to the car. Anyhow, I went out and fitted the stripe over the trim to get an idea of how it would look. So funkysi, hold on before you meltdown mate lol, it's reversible so if it looked pants it could be undone.. However... After fitting it, I asked for a few opinions from a few people amd the response was quite positive. Also, I like the look.. It's not a glaring bling, it doesn't scream goooollllddd!! Just a subtle contrast. Anyway, for the haters of gold, prepare to recoil.. Lol. Here's an image.. I think if I coloured the centre support bar for the targas aswell it would all blend in quite nicely.. Ok, I'm braced for the influx of opinions so, hit me with it lads and ladies..

Hahaha! I detect a sense of recoil amongst the Z community. Imagine the horror of gold door handles and gold tinted glass with a nice gold ignition key and a big diamond on the tip of the aerial? Lmao! Maybe a swarovski crystal gear knob too? Lol.. To be honest with you I think that the roof trim will look good in gold.. But fear not, it's not the gleaming bright shiny gold, it's the wheel colour and the same as the gold pinstripe so it's not going to scream bling! I just think that it's worth the effort to try it for the £25 it's gonna cost. If it looks a bit too much there's always the choice to change the colour back to plain old black.. I think it may look a bit much against a black bodied car or even just a dark colour, but the contrast between the red and gold I really like. My only bit of indecision is if the windscreen trim will look right because of the black rubbers top and bottom.. Time will tell!- Roof trims... Advice needed..
Mine seem to be in fairly good condition, the actual trims themselves are good apart from the outer coating which is weathered and starting to lift a little. I figured it would be better to re use the trims after seeing the cost of a new set! But i want them gold, so buying a new set would be a waste just to strip the coating and have them recoated.. If I had a garage or could rely on decent weather I'd get them off at the weekend but our British weather is always against me and time aswell.. Could do with a small lottery win and a house move.. Lol- Roof trims... Advice needed..
Hmm, there was me thinking it would be simple huh? Lol.. Shouldve guessed you'd need a degree in engineering to get the buggers off.. I'm not liking the sound of drilling through stuff to get to the screws either. I think Id rather take the time to get to them properly rather than risk the leaking targas again as I've only just solved the torrent that was coming through them previously. I'm trying to do this in a way that is cost effective but I'm probably going to need to replace the clips as I intend to put the original trims back on after having them recoated in gold. I'm guessing the Z centre will be able to supply the clips? The other thing that's puzzling me is how to remove the section to the rear of the targa. Judging by the sound of it, the clips for that section are probably under the rear quarter window trim? It all sounds like it's going to be as painful as chewing on tin foil.. But needs must.. Theyve got to come off for coating asap.. I shall have a chat with luke about the clips and go from there then! Thanks for your knowledge guys.. Oh and no offence about the drilling, but i think Id rather have the pinta than risk water coming in anymore.. Lol.. - Roof trims... Advice needed..
