  1. anyone with any ideas on this exactly a week ago i got in my car after a game of football started it and i could hear a tapping noise like a dodgy lifter but the car was still warm and i had never heard it before even when i started it in the morning when it was cold. The noise then ceased after about three minutes , since then every time i have started the car and finished my journey i have had my door open to listen for the tapping and i didnt do it again till today, and it was literally 5 minutes from turning the car off to getting back in it and starting her up is when i heard the tapping again but obviously the car was still warm if the lifters were dodgy you would expect to hear them when the car is cold rather than warm. Anyone have any ideas???? do you think this could be an oil pressure problem my stock gauge reads low but i know 90% of them give crap readings anyway any thoughts on this one ???
  2. cheers for that info ryan so as long as the cats stay on this is ok i mean to run straight through pipes from the cats with no silencers in between the cats and the back boxes???
  3. is it possible to make the car boost up earier by tinkering with the acctuator or is it possible to bring the boost in earlier at what revs can the turbos produce max boost??? also ive heard about if de-cat your car you are risking turbo failure due to the loss of pressure so if you keep the cats on but put a straight through pipe from the two cats to the back boxes this is ok

  5. i was driving to work yesterday morning and i had to put my foot down a bit to get into a gap when i stopped at the lights i noticed the car was idleing to fast about 1500rpm, when i got to work it was the same, so i pooped the bonnet just to have a look to see if any wires had come loose or something. At the front of the engine where the two metal water pipes are there are two sensors as i fiddled about with the one on the left the electric fan kicked in and didnt turn off with the car still idleing fast, so i turned the engine off. i started her up about 5 minutes later and the fan came straight on and the engine was still idleing fast so i popped the bonnet and had a little play with the sensor , the fan shut down and the engines idleing speed dropped to normal. What is going on here??? The engine hasnt done it since but the idle is erratic at times sometimes sitting at 900rpm drive down the road and stop and it sits at 1000rpm or 1100rpm drive a bit more and back to 900rpm and so on . any thoughts much appreciated jim zx

  7. hey guys can you please help ???? i fitted a stereo in my car today, now when i turn the lights on only the full beam comes on and as soon as you turn the lights on , the sidelights and main beem dont work also the rear lights dont work and the lights around the speedo dont work but all the other electrics do is this a fuse ??? if so where is the fuse box ?? i checked under the bonnet and i can only find a few fuses but mostly relays any ideas ????????? jim zx

  10. hey guys its me yet again heres i problem for you think about. last night i went out for a burn in my zed and as i was driving around i heard a ping noise which alerted me to my speedo that was reading off the clock speed bout 300mph!!! but i was only doing about 50 mph anyway the needle stayed at 300 and icoupler of minutes later when i slowed down to park up the car i noticed the steering had gone very heavy pas was still on but only slightly . i dont know but would imagine the pas is sensitive to speed , so did the cars brain think i was going really fast and ajust the pas for this speed that my speedo was reading or is it something else possibly??? anyone with any advice please help thanks jim zx

  12. cheers guys i think i check out blueflame for a custom exhaust if its cheaper , the one i have on there now is quite loud , id like to have one that still produces this sort of exhaust note anyone know of some louder exhausts i can purchase but still look the same or similar to the twin exit either side like the mongoose ??? also i need some new downpipes i want some ss one anyone know of a good place to get them from ??? cheers jim zx

  16. hey pwople does anyone know of a good place around the kent/london area to have work done on my zed???? possibly somewhere that specialises in these cars , someone that wont charge the earth, and somewhere that can possibly put a warranty on the work they do ????? advice would be much appreciated thanks jim zx
  17. hey checked my ecu today theres a big sticker on it saying DATA SYSTEM-HIPER CHIP A TEMPT.CHIP does this mean it has been chipped at some point or do all ecu have this sticker ???? also the evc has written on it HKS ECU but has no number and no screen it just has a button to turn it on and a button like a two nob job stereo to turn the boost up and down , does this mean its ancient???
  18. i know its got aftermarket intake and exhaust but the exhaust is knackered ill need to get a new one , ill have to find out wheather its chipped or not. cheers for your help mate

  22. hi i just picked up my 300zx tt manual thats an import . i am new to this car and have no mechanical experience and very little knowledge towards this car but am eager to learn. i have loads of questions to ask but here are just a few if anyone could help : 1.The car has an evc installed ( which i believe is a fancy boost controller???) can anyone shed any light on this and would the car have had to have been chipped to use it ? 2. what boost pressure can i run safely (my gauge is in kg/cm2) 3.the cars oil gauge is reading very low but i have no tapping knocking or smoke from the car are the gauges usually duff or should i get this checked out? 4.and finally i have a noise coming from the gearbox when i depress the clucth it stops and resumes as i release this. is this the thrust bearing or could it be anything else??? any help eould be much appeciated
